My Tiv, on Pimp My Ride UK

I responded to a request on this site by the MTV producers, for some cars for this summer's show.

OK, before I am slaughtered by you lot for pandering to all things chav, let me defend myself:

1. My car will not actually be 'pimped', or have anything to do with things 'beeyatch-like' or 'ho-ish' in nature festooned upon it. It will remain as is.

2. It is simply going to be used in the promotional trailers to get the punters, along with a yellow Lambo.

3. Why, I hear you cry, am I going?
a) Well, I want to meet Tim Westwood and see if he actually does sound like that!
b) Maybe getting a decent car on the show will actually raise its profile- the show has been slagged off for being a poor cousin to the glamorous US version.
c) There will be plenty of girls littered around the place to observe and contemplate.
d) Was irked by some dinosaur-like characters on PH refusing to have anything to do with the show. Yada yada yada, boys.


Filming next week. Who knows if I will make it back alive.
Oh, and I would like to lavish a pistonheads sticker on it and demand that they show that on the trailer- can anyone send me one in a hurry? Ted?

Word up!!! Pimp my ride is hilarious, although 'X to the Z' does it better than Westie, in my opinion. Xzibit's grin at the moronity of it all whilst fully condoning and encouraging it is priceless.

Shame your car isn't actually being 'improved'. I would love to see a Tiv running on 22 inch spinners, amps, LCD screens, pimp interior, the works.

Jealous of you TBH. Strangely enough they didn't want my Chim.
Last series I believe had a PHers Griff on there and a chap round the corner from me who owns a Countach also had his car on there.
Westwood apparantly is actually a decent chap, a lot of what you see on TV is for the cameras.

The US version had good cars on it

Best thing I ever saw was an old 60s Mustang a young student girl had, floorplan rusted out and in a terrible state, but by the end of it, the car was just a different definition of "bad".

Amusing show though and some talented people working on the cars, have fun next week

So you watch a holiday programme with washed white beaches and palm trees in the title and then find it's a documentary about Butlins? Hmmm.

A TVR in the title won't make me watch a terrible programme I'm afraid so I'll stick to my Velociraptor meetings. It's all very well pontificating about people not liking the show but I would have been more impressed if you'd put your Tiv where your mouth is and let them erm.....improve it.

you wont be the first PHer. Quite a few have already been featured and DustyCs Griff was filmed for Pimp my Ride a long time ago. Filming before the first UK series had started on MTV. From what he says, Westwood is a nice chap and a good laugh.

I've seen the US version and it was quite amusing. Tim Westwood is entirely the wrong person for the UK one though, he sounds as though he is trying to be a big bad black man. Ali G could do a better job.

Love it or hate it the Charisma Cerb was done primarily as a showcase for their work and what they can do.
It may not be to everyones taste and there are a lot of areas on it that I think look awful, but as a whole the quality of work is extremely good.

I think to actually pimp up a car the base car has to be pretty much a shed.

I think if you offered your Cerbera to 'pimp up' you couldn't do much to improve it. its sorted already.

I gotta say i find the US version a right giggle but doing the same format in the UK doesn't work. We may be able to put on dodgy accents but we're not Americans.

I think doing a stereotypically 'English' one would be funnier with Mr Chumley Warner and bowler hats etc..
