Hi all,
A Sad Day has come.
Can I just thank all the people that I have recevied help/advice from in the past. I am reluctantly getting rid of the 996 TT tomorrow, (costs are getting out of hand). I am jumping into an 02 - M3 SMG for now but be sure I will return.
Once again thanks for all your help + see you all soon.

Just out of interest, were any of the bills out of the ordinary/unexpected repairs? just so the rest of us can be forewarned.

I've gone from 911 to M3 twice, and both times missed the porker almost immediately, will not be doing it again.
I understand that finances play a big part, as it did in one of my decisions.. it's good that you're looking out for your kids.

Tricky, but will try..
1st time went from 996C4S to M3 CSL to M3 conv SMG.
C4S was classy allrounder, but fancied CSL which was new at time, got bored then bought conv SMG, found SMG on normal M3, very slow and slurry compared to razor sharp changes of CSL, different software.
2nd time went from MK2 GT3 to CSL, finances played a part, but was hoping CSL with APs could match GT3 pace on track.. wrong !
Sold CSL to buy Sagaris, and now have an RS.. Sag for sale

Have owned for 3 mths, done 4k miles and tracked at Snetterton, Silverstone GP twice, Spa and the Ring.
Car is awesome on track, but pain in the arse on road.
Wanna buy an allround Porker and stick with it.. am looking at an X50 996TT.

You thought about refinancing the car at its current value, it might help you out
I sold my 996 targa three months ago and have missed Porky ownership like mad. Dabbled with idea of getting a 996 TT but could not find one that seemed right for me. Put my name down for an RS4 audi early last year and that comes in march - decision driven by fact that I like to change my cars frequently and bit more practicality would assist.
Audi not due until MArch so am literally climbing the walls driving my wife's TDi polo. I know if I had the money I would go buy a new 997 S. Am hoping Audi will entertain for a year and then I buy a used 997 S.
HAve to say, the chat on the Audi forum falls massively short of the banter on this one...so I miss Porky ownership in more ways than one

Not that my car choice is anything to go by, but I so,d me 993, on family grounds. My son found it a little on the rough side in the back, and got sick a few times, so I succumbed to family pressure, and sold it.
When the car was being driven away by its new owner, my wife saw the look on my face and actually told me to call the new owner and tell him that I had changed my mind, but it was too late.
I subsequeltly went for an uber family car, VW Toerag, and while it was a genuinely good vehicle (I will not call it a car) I got out of it feeling cold, and functional. It did the job, pure and simple. From that moment I made the commitment that I would sell the Toerag and get a 996, despite having another baby. So. final result, is 996C4S is now parked in driveway, and I am happy. After a rotten day in the office, I get in the car, and know that by the time I get home, all the work crap will be forgotten, and I will enjoy the time with my family.
Weird how a "car" can have that influence on you, well on me at least.

Rob... yes, 996TT X50, tuned to 490bhp say, is probably the ultimate all rounder. Until the 997 TT comes out... could work to your advantage picking up a 996TT cheaply tho'.

I had the same empty 'bear with a sore head' feeling for weeks after being forced to sell my 996. Unfortunately, I had the tax man turn up for some folding. With £50K sunk into the car, it was the obvious thing to go. I drove it back to AFN Chiswick. The car buyer was a decent bloke, and even drove me to the station in it after we had done the deal. That was such a sad day
