New roof covering and seals

Hi Guys
I am looking a little help in recovering the griff's hood. I have looked at the griffith pages web site and they explain in great detail how to recover the targa roof panel. No problem so far and the pics are great. The problem I have is that the glue mentioned is no longer made but replaced with a newer version. This turns out to be only sold in England and the distributer wants £40 to send it to Belfast. So have any of used a more readily available glue. My company does a lot of wood veneer work and uses cold glues contact glues and spray glues.
I am also replacing all the door and roof seals and would like to know if any of you know who's seals they are Ford, Vauxhall or are they TVR? Again it is going to cost £30 to send across the pond. The joys of TVR ownership in N Ireland !!!

Need to get the work done for the Celtic gathering in march so any advise would be helpful

Have a look at Woolies trim. You can get the sels from them. And maybe the glue too.

I purchased my rubber seals from www.woolies-trim.co.uk Tel. [phone].

Top window seal (later type) is their reference SRS24.

The best match I could find for the rear roof seal is their reference 266a.

Very helpful company. Will supply samples.

Bought roof seal from them at the Classic Car Show but don't know reference numbers.

David Gerald do the roof seals, around £12 for a roof's worth. I'm the postage wouldn't break the bank either.

Woolies also do decent glue that will be fine for the roof. Give 'em a call.

Apologies for hi-jacking this thread slightly, but I'm still getting a leak behind drivers seat on my 94 Chimaera. The carpet trim behind the door window is getting wet and dripping onto floor. I've treated the hood, especially the 'triangular' side sections again but to no avail - so I wonder is it the vertical seal between the rear hood section and the door glass causing the problem? (it is a bit worn)

Is this a likely culprit?

If it is, there are a few items in the Woolies catalogue that look like the right item - anyone familiar with the Woolies catalogue care to have a look and give me their opinion?

I'm looking at the "Door/Boot Seals and Edge Trims" page on the website - items 264, 266 etc.

John do you have what people call "Elephant Ears" they are smal flaps of rubber that sit behind the velcro part bottom edge of the side of the hood. If this has worn or even fallen off the water may be getting in there? worth a check.

I have no elephant ears on either side, but the passenger side is OK, hence my focus on the seals. I do however intend to get some suitable material and try to make a pair of 'ears' - if I can follow the instructions in previous PH threads.

I assume your car has them? What sort of overall dimensions are they - its not clear from the earlier threads.

Someone on the Chimaera forum suggested I try new window seals to solve my problem - he says he got his cheap from his TVR dealer.

Have you thought of Parkgate Garages for your roof seals?

Apologies if they're the 1st people you thought of and I'm stating the obvious!

Thanks guys for all your help. I found woolies very helpful both seals and glue have now been ordered. A delivery cost of £10 is hard to beat and 24hr delivery is not bad also. Prices are about the same as TVR dealers with the delivery saving going towards a nice new set of steve heath drop links. Our local dealer was not asked due to the fact that the last time I needed something for the griff his parts manager did not know what a griffith was and suggested I go to halfords.

Don't worry rnd you will get plenty of chances to see me disappear into the distance when you are behind me at kirkistowm in march. The new TOYO R888 will now get me round the corners giving you no chance to catch up!!!!!!!!!
