The number of resets is down to zero. I've tried using DVD43 and DVD CSS FREE, but they don't work on the DVD.

Any idea how to reset the Laptop DVD drive to a different region?

Stu, once you've got the make and model, check out:

www.allfirmwares.com/

Select Laptop on the LHS of the screen, then the make and model of your drive.

Hope this helps.

Right click My Computer and select Properties. If thats too hard (!!), go to Control Panel, System. Click Hardware, then Device Manager. Expand DVD/CD_ROM Drives. Theres the make and model of your DVD (you may also have a Nero Imagedrive here).

Hope this helps.

Eh? I can!!

Try: www.allfirmwares.com/unit.php?&t=7&m=38

Its there, but there doesn't seem to be an RPC1 firmware for it

Only other thing I can think of Stu is to Google RPC1 firmware UJ-830S and see if anything comes to light?

Will VLC (Video Lan Client - superb open source video software) not bypass that to play the DVD?

I used to use DVD Genie... it was capable of resetting your region count.. I think..

Have a google for that and see if it still exists..
