Traffic Cops on the TV last night.....
Discussion
I watched Traffic Cops last night and really felt for that PC patrolling that estate, I never really appreciated what some BIB have to put up with on a daily basis and can now begin to understand why some may not have the "perfect" attitude when they first encounter the public.
That said, the biggest shock for me was that the drug dealer (the one selling from his bedroom window) got a six month custodial sentence (supply) and the guy on the un-roadworthy motorbike (dangerous driving) got a six month custodial AND four year ban!
Firstly, he did not appear to be driving dangerously, secondly the charge should have been regarding the condition of his bike and speeding, thirdly the sentence is pure madness!
Did I hear correctly and can this really be justified?

The guy on the motorbike was riding at very high speeds with a drunk on the pillion who could have had them both off at any time.
He had earplugs in so he could not even hear the two-tones of the police pursuit car.
Yes I fully support our front-line cops ( though not some of their chiefs) but why on earth did they have to cause so much disruption by hauling in 18 coaches at a time for roadside checks. Why don't they check them in their depots when there are no passengers to be hugely inconvenienced.
As for the nutters in Elllesmere Port, how could they blame the cop because a hoodlum who was trying to escape ran across a motorway to his death.
I guess they could’ve charged him with additional offences, but then they really should mention that otherwise it becomes a PR blunder.
Did you think he was driving dangerously? (Remember that you saw the same footage as the court would have done)
Also, did you smile when that PC (was it PC Huff or something) CS gassed his partner in the scrum that developed when they tackled that amphetamine dealer? I’m sure this may happen a lot, but I’d be none too pleased if I got a face-full of friendly fire

I wouldn't say the bike was riden at very high speeds? It was 100ish on the motorway if I recall correctly? I certainly think the punishment for a traffic offence was disproportionate compared to that of drug dealing

This happened to by brother in law the other night, some scrote was biting his arm & his partner cs'd both of them. We were supposed to be going for a beer when his shift ended but not surprisingly he wasn't in the mood
I'm sure I heard a comment towards the end of the program that it was illegal to be a pillion passenger on a bike if you were over the legal limit.
Now I can see exactly why this should be but didn't know it was illegal.
Anyone confirm that I did hear correctly and that it is an offense?

didn't the biker get up to 109mph?...plus i seem to recall they said he had no tax, so maybe no insurance, no indicators or rear lights (i dont know if thats an offence, but i'd have thought you'd have had to have a brake light), no speedo, dangerous rear tyre, unsecured seat.
so if they threw the book at him, and did him for every offence, it might all add up.

I have to admit to NEVER watching propoganda.
The total arrogance of the self righeous program makers, treating the general public it a patronising way really irritates me. And the police officers ham it up for the cameras.
The reality is that the police have a frustrating job to do and most aspects of it, I will support with vigour.
It's a shame these kinds of programs make a large number of people resent the police.

After watching the programme I have a much higher opinion of trafpol than I did before. (BTW it was high already!). Didn't realise that they have to deal with so much 5hit non traffic related.
They are on the whole all petrolheads - so what is wrong with that.
Re: the various sentencing that was dished out - nothing to do with the police, that will be CPS and the courts.

I was pleased to hear the sentence for that muppet, imagine being in your car and the chap on the back fails off infront of you??? or the tyre bursts!!! You hit him or bike ...! Anything could have happened...! Motorway shut for a death....! You having to live with killing someone...! Those two should be newtered, totally irresponsible.
bjwoods idea is more the point. (SO perhaps the questionis not WHy 6 months for him, this incident, BUT why other sentences are SO LOW for worse offences. )

Totally agree. 6 months for the drug dealer was ridiculous, 5 years and a good birching would have been more appropriate.

Very impressed the way he just clung on and wouldn't let go no matter what though
What I really couldn't believe was the dumb bint standing there having a go at the officer for doing it in front of a kid, believing it was better to have the dealer go free. She should have been arrested for being too stupid to be allowed out unsupervised.

Exactly. If said chav bint was so offended then she should have removed the child from the scene. If anything, watching this humiliating arrest might have influenced this kid not to go down the same route. Some people have difficulty putting things in proportion.
