I obviously got your attention.

Finally got the suspension sorted so I can use the OZ wheels and Yoko 048's from the track. Unusual colour scheme I know, but the yellow band is a sticker and can be removed.

After much agonising, I went for the nitron suspension - worked out way cheaper. Standard spring rates 325 front 400 rear with ride height 115/125 and a Waspy geo setting. My rear geo was way out - now explains why I felt like I had no rear end grip on the track! Big to the folks at Sinclaire's. I drove home on the standard 111s wheels and could immediately feel the difference - no crashing on bumps, brilliant turn-in (heaved into a couple of roundabouts). Anyway, I will give the 048's a twirl if it is dry over the weekend. Bring on the 27th BoLOCs airfield day and Bedford on the 28th.

You don't like the yellow band my daughter crayonned on then? She won't be happy. Actually these were wheels destined for Japan a while back - some particular car colour scheme. Anyway, I got them for a brilliant price, brand new with new 048's. I can peel the yellow band off, but as I will only be using them for track, I can't be asked.

The waspy setting is a geometry change that gives improved turn-in. Ie it reduces understeer without compromising rear end grip. I might add that so far it really seems to work. (I was using the standard wheels and tyres so the comparison is fair) Tomorrow I will be playing with suspension settings.

Ok, Bear in mind my car is off to the car hospital next week. How do I get a Waspy geo?

It is a geometry setting: camber, castor and toe in measurements. A search on Seloc will give the settings. It involves having a geo done. Mine was out, yours is probably fine. It is different to standard though. I think it was developed at sinclaires with Andy Walsh's input. However, it follows what is considered an excellent starting point for a race setup.

Would any of you have paid £800 more just to avoid the yellow band? On trackday wheels?

I would also add that the yellow band does not stand out like that in normal light - I used a flash and looking at my picture seems far more OTT than in reality. I just need to see how easy it is to remove. Frankly I am not that bothered. The difference in price of those wheels (brand new oem from lotus) vs say hanger 111 nearly paid for the nitrons.

Thanks Rene - I am however getting the response I expected from this lot. If they weren't taking the p*ss I would be seriously worried - it's not like I don't do it back!

Shang ... that's sweet mister. I've always liked the visual impact of the slightly nose down attitude (set my VW up like that too)

Glad you made the right decision and your concerns regarding road comfort seem to be allayed

Elise, Nitrons, 048's .. some fine tweaking during a shakedown = Road Superiority

Happy Exciting
