Theres a few adverts that just don't get. Like the new Orange advert.

It goes on about how isn't it great when good things don't stop. Well yeah, of course it is. But the images to go with it is a load of multicoloured paint overflowing and going all over the pavement. How is that good? Wasting paint, polluting the environment and ruining a nice pavement.

The other one that comes to mind is the Joop Jump advert. The line is "Leap out of your skin - Joop Jump". What? Why not say "Jump out of your skin?" Why "leap"? It would make so much more sense if it was jump.

Any others people can think of? There are a few very good adverts, like the new Honda adverts, and some of the VW and Audi ads are good, but some of these new ones just don't make sense...

Ah but it's got you talking about Orange and Joop Jump (WTF is that BTW?)

Therefore, they have worked. Hooray for weird adverts!

Any perfume advert.

Unless it contains rude bits.

i too dont understand the orange adverts. i guess it is true that i am likely to remember it better than more obvious ads but is that really what they are thinking:

:Orange advertising board meeting:
right, what are we going to do now?
we have this brilliant idea; talk about our services and put up some nice colourful pictures.
pictures of what?
oh! ummmm... we hadnt thought of that! how about paint! yeah, that will be good!

I think the latest one is trying to link spiders to quattros :scratchchin. Spiders are well known for having eight legs, quattros for having 4x4... not really the same is it? Also, the spiders are probably putting off lalf of the potential buyers - or at least their wives who do the driving

There is (or was last time I went past) one of those adverts on the side of a truck parked in a field (a practice which I wish there was some practical way to squash) on the east side of the M42 just south of the NEC. It said, in its entirety: "<company name> - Good at what we do." Yeah, so what the do you do then? There wasn't even a clue as to what they did in the company name - I have not included the actual name not because I want to avoid giving them any free advertising, but because it was a totally meaningless name and I can't remember what it was. Why is it that so many companies throw money away on this pointless crap?

I liked their last ad campaign, with the bull, where the RS seemed to charge at the screen. Of course, it was probably a load of bull *sorry ill go to bed now*

theres a real wtf advert here in the US at the moment.

it has a pregnant women eating a brand of burgers that look absolutely revolting and the tagline is "you'll be eating MacDonalds in 7 years time".

wtf?

(its not a MacDs advert - they are just slagging off MacDs - thats how cryptic the ad is)
