anyone ever raced a Jedi? (no Star Wars jokes please)
Discussion
looking at my racing options for this year... thinking along the lines of Fiestas, Caterhams, Legends etc. However a couple of people have mentioned the Formula Jedi single seaters, on the off chance that anyone on here has raced them or knows anything about them any thoughts / advice would be much appreciated..
I ran one once for a friend in the Mallory Park Boxing Day races, though it was called a Formula 600 in those days. Biggest problem Chris had was forcing himself not to change gear until 12500rpm; he was used to shifting at about 7.5krpm in normal racecars and thought the engine was about to explode above 11. He reckoned it was quite good fun though, although he also said you should probably have two - one for each foot...
Ofcourse you don't go racing with the intention of shunting. But you have to look at the possibilty.!
The Jedi is pre historic in design and I refused to test one due to the non existent frontal impact protection.
I did a little remote engineering for guy who ran a 600cc car last year, I believe a wet shoe box has more torsional rigidity. !!

the design and safety on them needs a good look at really. Yes there fun to drive but i personally wouldnt want to be heading into a tyre wall in one!
Look at caterhams, there are many teams hyperion motorsport, taylors foundry racing, team parker racing that will build you a car, and take it to the track for testing etc and all you have to do is arrive and drive!

I know Russell Small and he raced in selected rounds last year. He also has two cars and may run the second car for someone.
