Untill reading this enthralling article i had never given Condoleezza Rice much thought before. I wonder what sort of place the world would be with her as president? She certainly seems to know her apples which is more than a lot can say for dear old george.
No wait, he sometimes spits out pips under the breath of damn or tang or somesuch incomprehensable sylable

I think of myself as somewhere between a miror and the telegraph reader and yet my ignorance hasn't racognised any. Should i be renegated to the sun?

I think she might make a good president. Though without taking a good look at the other potential Republican candidates I can't say she would be the best.

It will be interesting to see the Republican Primaries.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the first black, and the first woman, president was a Republican.

It isn't the be all and end all of the US presidency, but she is less articulate than George Dubya ... which, were it intentional, would be one hell of an achievement.

Indeed. But, sadly, it would also be ironic if she was a Democrat...

Accusing her of being in articulate is strange. Please give examples. The only people here that think at all ill of her are blacks who thinks she "talks too white" because she uses proper English.

a) mate...your keyboard is ferked. Or you fingers are. Or your fingers are fine,
and something higher up the cortex is dodgy.

b) Ms. Rice is a seriously clever bunny.......probably too clever to run for President.

She is certainly exceptionally bright and capable ..

....... BUT is still a "neo-Con" , just like Bush and Rumsfeld .... and as such would still drive similar foreign policy, so just about every Muslim and Arab state would *still* hate America.

Pity she doesn't have more liberal views.

If she did she would be a Democrat (if we are using 'liberal' in it's American meaning)

This exchange is perhaps one of the most toe-curlingly embarrassing, I have ever witnessed. It's painful on a David Brent level........

PS she'll be unlikely to become the republican candidate, for president, precisely because she's black.

Oh I don't know

In this country the first Jewish and the first Woman Prime Minister were both Conservative, the right wing party.

I would say that a black president is more likely to come from the Republicans because Right wing parties do not have the vested interest in creating and maintaining a victim culture that left wing parties have.

I've looked at it again and again and still can't see anything embarrassing, perhaps you should try and develop a sense of humour 968

I have to say that I have thought her to be intelligent and articulate, however do you see the US as being ready to vote in a black President? a couple of my US colleagues don't think so, what's your opinion Jimbeaux?

So she's an intelligent, articulate, educated, female, black, American.

That's kind of a minority within a minority within a minority within a minority within a minority within the States.

I don't know about Jimbeaux, but if it comes down between Condi and Hillary Rotten-Clinton, I know which box I will be marking...

Also...

Neo-Con is not a bad word. It describes a philosophy of strong national defense, limited government control of business, liberal property rights and a more liberal social policy than is usually associated with conservatives. A prime example of a Neo-Con would be Mayor Rudi (who I hope runs for President).

Condi Rice is also one of the most purely intelligent politicians in the US today. The fact that she would actually have to be coerced into running for President and really doesn't want the job, speaks volumes. Hillary wants the job too bad, and that in itself should disqualify her...
