Yep, that's what mine did about a week before the slave cylinder seal failed. At least it gave me warning, and broke when I could not select reverse to get it out of the garage. Better than Tesco's car park!

I brought a clutch slave cylinder from local factors for my S3 for 30+vat.

It was off a Rover SD1 part no. Lockheed LL37528

I am jsut about to purchase a slave today with a view to fitting at the weekend - the part numbers I acquired by searching the forums were Lucas 74066169 or Lockheed LB 13DCC002A can anyone confirm which of the part numbers is the correct one for a 1991 S3.

Cheers
Graham

not sure but you may have to grind the side down to make it fit as on the S3 i had, it wouldn't go in properly,i couldn't be bothered to do this and got the old one reconditioned and it has been fine since

Yes, I concur, we had to grind one side down flat to fit.
