following my post on scottishelises, i've now carried out the little fix i had in mind and it's worked brilliant! so i thought i'd share it with you pistonheads.

things you'll need - superglue, chopping board, 4 tins of tuna (large tins) and a few insulin syringes.

method:

taking the insulin pins, push into the bubble and draw out the air, this will take a few attempts cos the insulin syringe isn't very big

once the bubble is flat, open the super glue and draw maybe 50 iu (scale on the syringe) of the glue into the syringe.

push the needle back into the suede, in the area of the bubble and inject this small amount of glue.

put the chopping board on the dash and pile the tuna tins on top of it to keep the suede in contact with the dash.

leave for half an hour and then remove the chopping board and tins - you're done! good as new

if anyone's looking for insulin syringes, i've got loads or you can get them from boots. superglue and tuna are both available from asda

hehe fantastic advice. can the tuna be in oil or does it have to be brine?

Oil - in keeping with motorin traditions. Brine is bad for the aluminium..

Excellent post! I am thinking of putting alcantara on the instrument binnacle and steering shroud.

I used this method for re-sticking a saggy headlining on a Saab I once owned. Superglue isn't ideal, though, and you need decent sized syringes for more sutable stuff (insulin syringes are too fine to inject more viscous glue).

I got the mother of all Spanish inquisitions trying to buy big syringes from Boots, before being told that they could only sell me the insulin ones. Eventually scrounged some free of charge from the local drugs support place (for my brother, the heroin addict, honest, Guv).

but you have to buy 50 big syringes or so at a time and lets face it you're dash would have to be fairly ed for you to need that amount! lol
