Yep, I am a boxster owner who may be moving to a 996 in the next two months. Back in Dublin in the Autumn.

Not too sure about how many Irish Porsche owners are on here....Kleonard has a GT3 and pops up in the porsche section from time to time. There is also a very active Porsche Club Ireland.

thanks irish. Having recently forked out over 20k euro to bring in a 996 , I'm more than a little envious at you probably being able to get away without paying v.r.t. I have looked at this area in detail and reckon that it would pay you to try and get as new a 996 as possible. V.r.t. is calculated at 30% the value of an equivalent irish car ... so the more you spend in the u.k. the more you save when you import!!

Thanks Irish .. look forward to gassin with gully .I know a few porsche lads here in dublin but they drive 993's or 968's. They just don't understand!!
Honestly , I think you must be the luckiest man I know , that you'll be getting away with no v.r.t. I'd have been able to move up 3 years if I had your moves.. more power to ya! ( as they say over here).best of luck with the house hunting .. buyin or renting?

And if any of you need a car-sitter while on holidays, I won't mind when you phone me. Seriously, my company insurance policy is so open I could fly a plane and be covered .

I'm a better driver so I stay on the ground!

buying, or will on my return. unfortunately I will be buying in the middle of the SSIA frenzy [dpn't start me on my "where is the value" rant. i know I am lucky with the no VRT. Problem with that is you start thing about stretching to a GT3 mk 1 or facelift when my budget should have me in a 00.

looking forward to getting back to the irish porsche scene.

I have to say my dream car would be a 4S .. I've not spotted one on irish roads yet , so it'd be close to one of a kind over here. Ho hum .. maybe some day ... Don't want to depress you re. property over here , but the papers took quotes from the 4 leading estate agents in dublin recently , they all predicted 10 to 12% growth here this year .. get your foot on the ladder ,my son!!

First '06 car I saw this year was a 4S (99% sure), there was a black one outside the car dealers beaside the point in Dublin today, didn't see the number on the back. Slightly distracted by the Gallardo in the window . Havn't seen one of them over here before.

Was it that orange Gallardo I also saw yesterday Sunday ? It was parked near the Merrion hotel/Baggot street....

Sweet.

About property, guys, I believe what goes up WILL come down.

There has been property bubbles in California, London etc at various stages.

The indicators were EXACTLY what they are in Dublin today before a re-adjustment.

People in Cal and London all said that it would never happen there too.

Why would Dublin be any different ?

Shut up! I've just bought a house. It's already gone up €60k and I haven't even got my hands on it.
