People

I have a pressing problem. I am looking at a 7 type for some summer fun. So far i have driven a dax rush with a redtop running at 240bhp in amazing condition. Problem is im also seeing a Westfield seiw at the weekend. Ive driven a westfield before and it was great. The westie is running a ford dohc 2L lup with twin 40's at around 140 bhp.
I want to run the winning car for best part of the year march- octorber and would like to know what you lot think from your experiences is the better car. The price difference between the two cars is £1k im not saying which is more expencive i want to see what responcese i get without the hard cash getting involved.

Thanks For your help

Not driven a Rush, but I bet which ever you choose you will have a great craic. Have a SEIW myself, and still brings a massive grin on every trip to work... quite often the best part of the day.

Good luck either way!

Is the Ford lump a Zetec? If it isn't then I think I would go for the Dax, if it is, then I would buy according to condition and history.
I have never driven a Dax, but I love my Westie, and whatever you get you will enjoy. If you need any info on Westies, then it may be worth asking a few questions on the WSCC Boardroom, I'm sure someone will be along soon with a good Dax site as well!

I have a Dax Rush V8, and I looked long and hard at both Westfield and Dax before choosing. At the time I made my chioce (1997) the Dax chassis was proven to be a bit stiffer and the welding looked tidier. Having driven V8 demonstrators of both I thought the Dax felt a little bit more responsive / better road-holding. There wasn't really that much between 'em, but I prefered shape of the Dax and the fact that back wings were bolt on replacements(and that there was a choice of back wing and wheel widths). That swung it Dax's way, as did their lovely (but pricey) stainless steel manifolds / side pipes. One part of your decision process should centre around the sort of rear suspension the cars have, if the Dax has their IRS independant suspension set up, then it should make the Dax give a better ride and better grip (if set up correctly). Either car will be great fun and practical enough for daily use and short weekend breaks / trackdays. Good luck !

It will have to be your choice really.
I have never driven a Westfield but also own a Rush.
I imagine there is not much difference between the two. So it come down to preference.
My advice would be to think hard what you want to do with the car.
If it is going to be a weekend warrior with the odd trackday trown in, turbo or V8 are fine.
If you get bitten by the bug and want to do more track than road, a bike engined car might be the ticket.

For me, the V8 is the best of both worlds. It goes well and the sound is to die for. Sure there are faster cars (not many though!) but no better sounding ones!
It is also very easy to drive fast due to the huge torque being flat, compare to to a turbo. There are no wrong gears as long as you have a gear!
But again, choice is yours.
