Guys,

I live in a road that now has an issue with car parking (don't we all!!)

However, one of our neigbours, for the last 2 months, has had their camping trailer in the road taking up 2 valuable spaces.

Is this allowed?

We don't want to cause an argument with our neighbour, but are going to bring it up politely and would like to know where we stand should it end up being an unfriendly conversation.

Thanks for your help as always.

Two things that you need to consider here, is it causing an obstruction to peds or vehicular traffic, also, when its dark,it will need to be illuminated. Much the same way as a skip.

If someone were to crash into it and hurt themselves then the owner will be responsible.
Perhaps a quit word might do the trick.

Depends also on the content of the Title deed for the property. The deed to my house includes clauses that say :

No Commercial Vehicles to be kept overnight on the drive or parked in the street
No Caravans or Boats , same conditions as above

I guess that if someone was breaking these covenants then it would be a civil court case and very expensive...if it ever came to that.

Hopefuly a quiet word in the right ear will resolve...

Thanks for the responses.

Maybe i'm being very naive - but is car tax an issue here whilst it's on a public highway and not attached to a vehicle?

Thanks

We have the same problem..Parking for about 12 cars but there are 10 houses and most have 2 cars.Last year someone bought a huge RV.It takes up about as much space as a 7.5tonne lorry and is about as wide.I tried the council but all they were interested in was road tax.If it is a static van on the road it has to be moved but if it can move under its own power then you have to live with it.
Recently though the dustmen have had trouble getting up to the bins and have to go up on the grass where the council have put signs asking people not to park and cut up the grass so fingers crossed they will force him to move it to stop this happening..

Had a very similar problem on the street where I used to live in Reading. I telephoned the council to get some clarification on the legalities of it all and they explained that as long as the caravan is attached to a vehicle, there's nothing they can do to get the owners to shift it. If it's free standing, then they can intervene. Sadly, in our case, the caravan was attached to a car.

I suspect that might be a typo but rather an appropriate one I wager.
