The first EERC awards dinner was held last Friday night at the Belfrey. Around 200 or more of the country`s most talented drivers and race technicians attended spending the evening talking about racing and dancing to the latest tunes. Most were in bed by 10.30pm - 11.00pm at the absolute latest.
Unfortunately I must have eaten a bad French Bean during the meal as my head felt rather groggy and my mouth was distinctly on the dry side come Saturday Morning.
Awards on the night :
Luckiest escape from a speeding ban on the way back from a meeting award - Anna Walewska
The Dunlop "thanks for the business" puncture award - Barry Horne (Snetterton)
Best presented bodywork on the podium - Bill Cameron (Zolder)
Hardest working drivers in UK motorsport - Team Scandal (Oulton park)
Earliest collision with a hard object - Leigh Smart, Marcos (pit wall leaving pits to form up on grid - Brands)
The "We`re lost and seem to have ended up in the middle of a race" award. Schenzle, Derichs, Kammer Merc 500 at Silverstone 24hr.
The largest cheer of the season. Schenzle, Derichs, Kammer Merc 500 finishing Silverstone 24hr.
Dunlop "they`re not getting a diary this year" award. Schenzle, Derichs, Kammer Merc 500 (only used 2 tyres during Silverston 24hr !).
The drinking competition was a romp away victory for Adam Sharpe motorport with several team members valliantly soldiering on for the team until 4.00am in the nightclub. (So I am reliably informed !)
And finally the dancing competition was won by David Leslie - has the man no end to his talents !
Good luck for 2006.
(No doubt the official release will be posted in due course)

It was a fun evening - I was expecting Henry to try and kill me after Pete gave him that print...
Congrats on your award. I did'nt know there were any other photographers than the ones I knew covering the EERC meetings last year. Shame because you have some great shots of Jonathans car.
Now I know different we will look out for your work in 06.

Thanks

I must admit it was totally unexpected, so a very nice surprise indeed.
Yep, well done Izzy on your award - long may you support EERC. By the way, your prints went down well at Christmas - thanks again for the great service, see you in the pit lane soon.
Thanks also to Henry for Leigh's "alternative" award - he is currently away on holiday, but when he gets back we will be sure to rip the wee wee out of him!

Sounds like we missed a good do - see you all in March.

Andy
hmmmmmmmm Mr Firman, I can neither confirm nor deny that Team TopCats were in attendance at the Bel Air club that you may or may not have been at till it closed at close to 5am
and i doubt that there is any truth regarding alcohol being consumed to any degree by anyone from either TopCats or 911.Virgin
Was a top night and well done to Claire for all her hard work in arranging the event as well as to the rest of the EERC team. Roll on the racing and looking forward to the next awards dinner....
