A chink in the armour of Westover?

Took my car in today, my poor baby will be undergoing new year therapy until next tuesday.
The courtesy car is just HORID. That particular type of Bad that you just laugh at. After laughing particularly hard at the thing for 4 miles, I realised the joke was on me and it is far less funny.
I hate Nissan Almeras. I really liked the Alfa 147 I had last time. That was a pretty and comfortable car that actually did a good job in the bends. I have yet to find the redeeming features of the norman almera
Shangani - can I borrow your bike?

Caterham used to give me an R300 courtesy car!
It makes sense, as it was a superb sales technique. I ended up loving the car and almost bought one! It is still on my shopping list for the future if I have the money and a nice everyday car sorted.
I think it would pay Lotus to have a demo car with some aftermarket extras on it, that way they'd have a car to show the aftermarket extras on to returning customers, and also it would sell them to service customers when they were using the car.
The finances work out as well, as the Caterham courtesy car ended up being for sale for not a lot less than a cherished secondhand one. I know the guy that bought it and he loves it!
If it really is worth trading up to the latest model, Lotus should put their money where their mouth is like Caterham!

Hi all
I'm afraid this doe's upset me a little, I know they can't have a fleet of shinny new Lotus Elise's but surely they must realise that giving you some crapy old heap is just going to upset you, this is when I apply The Boggy's Law. Give me a crap curtsey Car and I'll thrash it to within an Inch of it's life no questions

After a few years of using a Ferrari 550 as everyday transport it alway amazed me that I got a basic Golf TDI as courtesy car... especially since it always took 10 days to service.... they always used to say... well it's not like it's your everyday car is it... cheek!!!
The arguement I heard from one of the Lotus dealers for why not to use Elises.... if every dealer used four or more as loan cars every year plus the demo cars they already have there would be a glut of used cars and values would be hurt... and customers would be even more irritated... guess I can see the reasoning... just!

I really did mean this in a more "toungue in cheek" way. The Almera is brand new (Ok about 6 months old) and as far as some of the cars I have been lent, it isnt bad BUT it is horid in comparison to the Lotus but what isnt?
As for thrashing it, I am only going to use it when completly necessary.
I am sure that sitting outside the service center there is a fezza or a trevor or something cool that would make my adrenalin spike!
B&C gave me a Toyota Yaris. It was horrible in every way. It was amazing the difference in other roads user's attitude towards me in that car.
In my Lotus, I generally get let out, people don't cut me up etc but in the Yaris I was totally invisisble!
I am suprised we do not have more pensioner road rage, given the way I was treated!!!

Hi all,
I had a bit of an accident in one of my car's it was a M reg Bmw 320 I Convertible it was about 4 Year's old at the time so it was still a fairly decent car, I turned up at the repair garage and they gave me an old Pug 405 estate, it was about 10 - 12 year's old at the time and ran like a right old Dog, now I was meant to take client's out in it but how could I it was a right heap, I couldn't believe that they would lend that out as a courtesy car. I treated it with the respect in deserved

Yes, it is a good thing. BMW and Caterham always both gave me new examples from their product range though. I think it is a crazy not to - Lotus should wake up!
When I got the 1 series my sister was about to order a company car so she had a good look over it to check it out. I think my week with the 1 was probably more revealing than any test drive I had been on previously, and even a lavishly expensive day at Rockingham put on by BMW because my friend had expressed an interest - all they needed do was lend me the car for a week whilst the 330 was being serviced - I then knew everything I needed to know about how the car fitted in with my everyday needs. The X3 got a lot of attention in the car park and at the local farm shop. Also, for me - the R300 from Caterham was the most effective sales exercise Caterham could have ever embarked on with me!

Steve Williams in Maidenhead has a realy manky old Astra, and I mean old, knackered and filthy with lots of stuff not working, but charges £40 per hour. Compare to my local Audi mafioso who give me a brand spanking A3/A4 tdi with leather every time but charge £100 per hour and £15 per liter of oil etc for the pleasure. The point I'm making is ummm dunno something about free lunches ?
Last courtesy car I got from Westovers was a Freelander TD4. Brand new, 3000miles on the clock, very nice.
Had told them prior that the wife was looking to change the Zafira and could the get something as a courtesy car that was a possible replacement and they came up with that. I loved it, she thought it was OK. Point is, I asked, they provided. Cant get much better than that.
On many occasions I have expressed my displeasure about service from Lotus and sometimes Westovers, I have also voiced my appreciation when they have gone above and beyond, this was another case of A & B.
