help! Cats are attacking my car.

Has any one out there noticed how attractive 996's are to cats?!! I'm plagued with a feline constantly sitting on the roof , and worse still , SLIDING down the rear quarters of the car using her CLAWS as breaking devices. I've tried most everything .. hoses , powder, even a sonic thingy with a p.i.r. sensor .
The cat sneers at my pathetic attempts. Please don't suggest the "perfect solution" .. As tempting as it would be ,i have my suspicions that my wife is more attached to her cat than she is to me...
All reasonable suggestions appreciated.

thanks for your thoughts .. and I use the word loosely for some of you!! I have been considering a cover but probably need advice on that score too on 1.the breathable debate and 2. it will be comfier for the cat .. and it doesn't need any more encouragement! 3. its nails will make short work of the cover anyway.Ideas??

Breathable covers probably give the cat a bit more purchase as they are more 'woven'. The aluminised non-breathable Cover Systems (www.cover-systems.co.uk) are less grippy for paws and they aren't a super tight fit like indoor elastic covers. This would make it less desirable for a cat as they won't be able to make out 'solid' car underneath it and risk slipping off.

As for breathable vs non-breathable, I have owned both kinds and didn't find the extra premium justified the extra performance. The non-breathable ones never caused too much of a build up, rust, whatever and seemed to work just as well as my fancy hi tech dupont fabric one (which would cost more to replace if it got nicked or blew away etc.). Cost of breathable ones are 200+, cover systems outdoor ones are 100...

can I put a non-breathable cover on a wet car?
are there easy and difficult to put on types?
can I put the cover on the car straight away or have to wait for the engine to cool?

I found my hose pipe was very effective, they avoided my car after a full on blast to the head. Jet washers are even better.

Being despicable creatures cats can only be taught not to get caught doing something. They'll still carry on doing whatever they like regardless when your back is turned. So shooting it is really the only option with guaranteed results.
