Firemen on strike or not

Fit 3 or 4 fire detectors (batteries, no wire, a couple of screws in the ceiling) : they'll wake you up before the fumes kill you. Also get a couple of 6 kg (12 lbs) powder extinguishers with a hose a learn to use them. Get a couple 3 kg (6 lbs) extinguishers wall fitted in the kitchen, they are less heavy for the missus, and teach her to use them. This gear helped me put out the neighbour's living room when the kids set it on fire. Don't stow inflammables within your walls, shove'em in the shed! If you have no shed, then don't keep inflammables. It's best not to need firemen, so don't smoke in bed, especially if drunk.
