I've got several other sony electronics and, as a result, Memory sticks are my storage media of choice. I'd rather get a sony Camera, but stop me there if you can recommend better for the money.
I see sony f828's on eBay for about £300, and they look quite good, but further research tells me they have been replaced by the DSC-R1, which looks awesome. Also like the (cheaper) DSC-H1
However, my loyalty to all things sony is starting slowly to fade, still got a phone, head unit (old one anyway!), Hifi, tv, etc etc by sony, but could look elsewhere.
My budget is up to about £450, though more like £400, and if i buy sony i don't have to buy more memory!
I intend to use my camera for taking sports photos, rugby, water polo, football, and also motorsport, as well as portraits of friends etc. It's all for my pleasure, but i don't think i have the money to get an SLR (more like the money to feed the habit once i start getting interested in different lenses etc!), so what do the PH collective recommend?
Tempted to go after the highest resolution, is this a foolish approach?
Lots of questions, but basically, what do people recommend for £400?
Should me having 1 1/2gb of MS media influence my decision, or will the quality increase of a non-sony product justify the extra money spent on other media? (hope that makes sense!)
Too many variables in my head, so all advice appreciated!

The SD cards that fit into most cameras (not CF cards) can be attached to a £5 adapter that mean it will fit into a Sony memory stick slot.

Steve, you are a legend for that, I had no idea!
Will google that, but you don't happen to know if that works for memory stick pro do you, they seem too small for something else to be adapted to fit!
Got a Psp that takes the small MS (pro), as does my phone

I still use the Sony compact(s) that I have (as GetCarter says - the best camera you have, is the one that you have with you). However, nothing beats a DSLR.
