against the british people, can you only imagine a recruitment agency for whites only and the outcry it would cause. There are some sick things going on in this country.

Can't see the problem. Where does it say whites can't apply?

I see what it's about and I don't see a problem. If you want a job, go to a local recruitment agency and leave these guys alone. Even though I can't find the "whites need not apply" provisio.

It says they try and redress the inequality in the workplace re appropriately qualified graduates, it also says that they accept applications from anyone. Its definitely more "non-white" centric, but its hardly shockingly racist. Opportunist maybe.

I don't see it as racist. They say they welcome graduates from any ethnicity and from what it seems will be happy to place a white person in employment. They simply specialise in placing people from ethnic minorities as some companies may have problems recruiting Black, Asian graduates etc and therefore cannot meet expected standards of equal representation. If however they start actively giving jobs to people based on their ethnicity then there is a problem.

its not racist - but if you created a website for a site that "specialised in white recruitment but was free for all to join" you would be dragged to the Tower in no time at all.

I thought forms were not allowed to ask for race in UK.
(Been away a while)

Well I have employed ethnic people and I find it wrong.
Perhaps not "Disgustingly Racist", but certainly exreemly iritating to the point where I think they should be shut down, well decent fine at least.

While it does not say "no English people thank you" it certainly infers it.

You either have race laws or you don't, but they must apply equally.

This is the sort of thing that causes more problems than they solve.

How about if whites were a minority who were regularly discriminated against?

I saw this morning in one of my wifes "Personnel Today" magazines.

In the article, it states that the company (supported by Trevor Phillips) is breaking the Race Relations Act by refusing to take on white candidates.

If this is untrue, I imagine that they would be in court pretty pronto for splashing it over their front page.

IMO it's disgusting & I will be letting them know that in due course.

what a load of tosh

i see nothing wrong with this, it maybe balances out in some small way the hundreds of agencies that are only for middle class white people to go to middle class white companies (of course they don't advertise their criteria quite so obviously)

read the bit "why we specialise in ethnic minorities"

it would be great if no-one even considered race in anything they do, but it's not a perfect world, so we'll make do with something like this in the meantime

on the other hand it could be "companies: here are a load of qualified people who expect less pay for the same job - why not take advantage?"

edit: there are 'white' ethnic groups too

it does intimate that it is for 'ethnic' groups only....but does not blatantly say it.........they are staying on a fine line between racism and 'being proud of your colour'

It certainly seems that these guys are skating on very thin ice and using every loophole there is, as it can easily (as has Tristar) be interpreted as them "preferring" other races, therefore it's inherently racist!!
However there's probably no chance that they'd be pulled-up for this as our society is in the meantime anti-white anti-Brit and pro any minority whether green skinned one-eyed purple haired martian lesbian single mothers or other (to be quite ridiculous!)

In an ideal world it would be impossible to make a case for "positive" discrimination as it is by definition discriminatory itself, but the world is far from ideal and blacks, asians and other "ethnic" groups still suffer discrimination in the UK and therefore a case can be made for actively trying to redress the balance. I'm not convinced it is effective because it causes resentment and allows one to question why an individual was given a job. However, to claim it is grossly unfair on whites as a whole is ludicrous. There are plenty of employment opportunities for people in the UK, regardless of ethnicity. A bit of positive discrimination makes no differnce to the majority. Having difficulty finding a job? It's Tebbit time.

There is no such thing as 'positive' discrimination only discrimination. As for Blacks and Asians still 'suffering' from discrimination, many Asian racial groups outperform whites academically and in becoming part of the professions. So one can't help feeling that it is an excuse used by those groups underperforming.
