........Too fast for the road??????........unfortunetly yes......
70 mph in 1st?...
110 in 2nd?...
full throttle is an `event`.....sometimes you come back from a blast pissed off because you have not had enough space/road or there is just too much traffic!

Do you have chilli in your eyes???

Hyabusas are without fail the most revolting bike ever designed! Just look at it - it's like a big jelly mold on wheels. Juk

Hyabusa should be pronounced "Eye-abuser".

I've heard it pronounced 'Hedge-abuser' on account of it's handling!

Current crop of 1000cc sportsbikes will do over 100mph is first. IIRC the Hyabusa would do 90.

Can't say I like the paint scheme on the bike although the looks of the Hyabusa in general have grown on me. Shaped by a wind tunnel, I'd imagine. Aesthetics took second place

Dave, apparently they handle pretty well.

I'd heard that too. It's when these loon bags whack a turbo on them and have to fit a 6" longer swing arm that the handling gets screwy....normally they're supposed to be very good.

just wait for those limited road versions of the Ducati Desmo and Honda RCV if they ever make it to production, as they have been rumoured to, they will be super fast.

I must admit, the performance of the latest Superbikes is astonishing and not really usable on the road. But then, Supercars have been like that for years. Nice to have, nigh-on impossible to really use unless your name is Rossi (Valentino, not Francis ). Certainly wouldn't want any nanny state regulations to restrict them though - which I suppose is the real danger. No, long may it continue I say

Yep, the thou's are almost unnecessary for the road. However, the power can be used to do things like hoike the front up at silly speeds so they do still have their uses.

As for Gixer top speeds. I think my K1 600 does 100 in 2nd. That probably doesn't help you much though.

Thou's aren't too fast for the road.

They are continuing to become more and more user friendly. In the case of the blade, it has been badged as 'BORING' by the media. Let me translate. It means that because most riders are capable of reaching more of it's performance, more of the time, it has become bland. That is when you compare it to a ZX10R, which will try and kick you off at the slightest glimpse of abuse.

I find that on comparison to my old Ducati 748, the blade offers so much more tractable power everywhere that it is easier to ride on the road and track. The brakes are so much better and fade less. The handling is more stable at both low and high speeds. I would say that you can use up to 70% of the bike's performance on the road, on clear, dry roads (In comparison a good rider could reach 85% of a 600).

at last a man who talks sense about the new Fireblade, that bike is anything but boring, but because it allows you to exercise more of your ability with less drama people call it boring, personally i call it a very well engineered bike.
