Does anyone know about mobile phones?
Which shall I get, N70, N80 or N90?

I have an old Nokia 6600 and am due an Upgrade from Orange. I have been waiting months for the Nokia N90 to come out. The annoying thing is, whilst loads of networks have the N90 available now, Orange don't even acknowledge it exists! Let alone give me a date when they will have it. Will they even get it? Shall I just leave for another network now?

They are always so slow at getting new phones to market, and only do about a quarter of the models that the other networks do. Why is this?

I already have a 6680 which I am selling on ebay because it's hardly any different to the 6600. Now the N80 (sliding phone) is out, I am tempted to wait for that, but will Orange ever get it? Will it take 12 months until its out? Shall I get a N70 upgrade which is available, ebay it, and buy a N90/80 out of my own pocket?

Not convinced... I've had a number of buggy phones from Orange. Their other favourite excuse is that they have to test things like Line 2, which they'd like to persuade you is an Orange special rather than part of the GSM spec. When I've clamed down a bit, I might post my latest mobile phone horror story. The future really isn't bright...

Vodafone can be even slower to approve new phones. I'm waiting for the P990, but the E61 may be in the running.

N90's picture quality is phenomenal.

Zeiss optics and a decent CCD make it almost a camera with a phone attached not the other way around.

The N90 is a colossal phone. Massive.

I'd go with the N70 tbh, I have a 6680 and its very good. A bit slow sometimes, but quite reliable.

I have an N70, had it for 3 months now on Vodafone. has proved to be a good phone and reliable, plenty of features and a good camera, decent battery life and considering its a 3G phone fairly compact. Only drawback is probably down to its size is the keypad can be fiddly.

Cant comment on Orange, never liked there service anyway.

I have just got an N70 on Vodafone. I would reccommend it because it's good to use, has a great camera and has some cool wee features.

I looked at Stuff Magazine's Top 10 phones, this one is at number 6. It's the only phone which suits me there. It has the expandable memory, as well as all the 3G features. I've done a few video calls and it's good with them too.

My cousin went and got the same phone, but with Orange. His experience with the N70 with them has been good. He also got loadsa free stuff with his retention deal, such as free video calls!

I held a N70 and a 6680 at the same time and the 6680 felt more solid for pretty much the same phone.I got that and am having no trouble with it.

Orange like to bastardise the phones and remove handy features like being able to set your own hotkeys, then they swap these handy hotkeys for things that will make them money like the camera (so that people MMS more).

And I'm an Orange customer of 9 years or so, so I speak from experience!!

Thanks for making me want something more that I CAN'T HAVE!!

And whoever suggested the SPV. Haaarrr haarrr haarrr. Tell me, do you still have to go into the inbox to write a new message?

yes I really want the N80 but I have heard it will not be available anywhere until May. Then Orange will be another couple of months IF they get it?? That's way too long to wait. Shall I just change networks?

I have to say my SPV was great, got it when it first came out and delivered magnificent service throughout the time I had it.

If my XDA Exec is half as good I'll be pleased.

I've got an SPV M500 (HTC Magician) PDA phone and I love it. It's a full PDA, not just a Smartphone, yet is not much bigger.

just got one 2 days ago as an upgrade from c500. Lovely phone if you don't need a particularly decent camera or 3G.

Had an N70 on trial between these 2 but sent it back, felt very plasticy, especially the slidey back thing and also Orange saw fit to cripple to software by implementing their own bastardised version, somewhat limiting how you could customise the front screen and a few different things (I like to see my calender entries on the main screen when on standby). Also it wasn't that slim which meant putting it in your trouser pocket gave you the look of Lou Reed in Transformer era. (not always a bad thing but not always good either

Have also heard the N90 is great but a complete brick, not seen one myself though.

never had to do this on either of mine, 2 button presses gets me a new text screen on both c500 and c600. It depend on which home screen you have set up though, but there is usually a very quick shortcut on most of them.
