Hi all, had a problem three months ago with the standard Becker unit and had it checked out as it had no power at all, the horn sounded once when the central locking was activated and nothing was left open.

The stereo has been sent off and Becker will not disclose any info to the local guys i took the car to and they are now sending it back to me some after all this time.

I have spoken to Porsche Bristol who have advised that my temporary Blaupunkt could be tricking the car into thinking it is being stolen as the alarm goes off every so often.

Any intelligent idea's guys on where i go from here as would like the car audio back to standard asap.

When i drove the car to be checked I remember a red light coming on in the centre top of the Becker, would that be alarm related ? help !

Red light flashing on my becker minidisc unit is when the car is locked and alarm is on.

No. Not when driving. Only when parked up and car locked etc.

From what i recall it only did it once before it was taken out and sent away whilst i was driving along which concerned me.

I get it back Friday so we'll see

Thanks

Isn't there a microswitch somewhere on the radio mount that causes any non OEM equipment to sound the horn upon locking the car. Same deal if the bonnet is left open or the locking arm rest thingy not closed.

I think a bit of bending of metal sorts it out.

thanks, that sounds like a starting point, will just have to wait and see if the original works when it returns.

Yes, there is a micro switch on the left hand side of the head unit aperture. The OE Becker unit has a plastic plate on the side that "insulates" the switch...a piece of electrical tape fixed to side of the Blaupunkt will cure.

Have a look and you'll soon see what to do!

Sorry about the "metal bending" suggestion. The older I get the less capability I have to remember information. A simple piece if tape will suffice as has been said above.

Hopefully won't have to go as far as metal bending but concerned that original unit still may not work when i get it back.

Further question though, anyone recommend a replacement exhaust for a 996 2001 c2, would like a sportier sound and the current one rattles slightly on cold start up and i'm sure it's blowing from the back right box so could be on way out anyway.

Anyone tried a TUBI exhaust system ?
