Can I modify them? I have some sound files that I want to upload to my phone. The trouble is the sound file goes on for 59 seconds and I only want the first 15 seconds.
Also, 15 seconds of the file is 1.68 MB compared to 84 kb from a similar file of the same lenght.

So, can I edit out the last 44 seconds and get the file size down?

Cheers.

What brand of phone do you have and do you have the data cable to connect to your PC?

I've got a Nokia and there is Nokia software available to do this type of thing.

Alternatively you could try a free trial such as this:

www.fileboost.net/directory/multimedia/audio/intelliscore_polyphonic_wav_to_midi_converter/007458/review.html

So the software that came with the data cable doesn't allow you to do this, have you checked Motorola's website to see if there is a software update that does this?

I make my own tones and sounds for a V3 using MP3TRIM and ALIVE MP3 wav converter.
Trial versions are available on the web.

Convert your .wav file to MP3 using ALIVE, then cut it to the correct length with MP3TRIM. Hey Presto, then just upload them to your V3 using the USB cable.
You should have the software 'mobile phone tools' with the phone?

Or alternatively tell me the sound you want and I'll do it for ya

Thanks shady, I've downloaded the tools you said and I'll have a play with it tomorrow. The missus is nagging me for the internet.

have you tried 'soundrecorder' - very basic and simple to use. Oh, and it's free and already installed on your PC.....

start

run

type - sndrec32

Open a wav file, then edit as needed with 'delete before' and 'delete after'

I use 'Ripeditburn' from Blaze Audio www.blazeaudio.com/ actually I use it to make mp3 files for the car from other music sources but the editor opens a wav file which you can then modify and save as wav or mp3 (with various bitrates), It works really well, I like it, it's simple and you can download a free demo version that works for 30 days, after that they want paying......

you can edit a lot of tunes in 30 days.........

Well done shady, that worked just like you said. Why waste money on ringtones?

I've often wondered that..... why on earth anyone would spend £3/week (or whatever the rip-off tarriff is) when all you need is a CD and a bit of freely available software......

I'm gutted now, I paid £2.50 for a crow ringtone, and it wasn't a real crow, just somebody imitating.
Foud a crow wav file on the net modified it as above, and now it's on my phone. Real crow too.

My mates are going to be right wound up now. I have seagull, woodpigeon and crow.

I sound like a kiddy, but I'm 43 nearly.

No worries, glad you managed to do it.
Basically you can do anything.

I have the star trek communicator sound when I get a text Or R2D2 is quite good.

When my mother calls me, I have the quote from The Life Of Brian "He's not the messiha he's a very naughty boy"
