Anyone had their Ultima repainted?

Just wondered if any of you have had your car painted either for cosmetic reasons or to change the colour, if you have would you mind letting me know what you paid to do the job and who you would recommend?

I would think Stig would have a good idea of paint job costs for a CanAm, I would think a GTR would cost a little more, perhaps GMan could comment! Does anyone have experience of a colour change and stone chips, not that I want to change from yellow to silver yet but I can only imagine what stone chips could look like!

I would recommend finding a local specialist who knows their onions when it comes to painting GRP.
I visited several local paintshops from recommendation etc. and whilst the general quality was very good, the price varied dramatically (1k - 7k!!!)
In the end, I used a small paintshop who did a great job at a great price
I did have the advantage of getting it done with the bodywork removed from the car. This has it's benefits and disadvantages, but I wanted everything sprayed regardless of whether you could see it or not.
As I said, look locally and get some recommendations.

I had my GTR body sprayed before final fitment by SMS AUTOSPRAY of Spalding. They seemed to know what they were talking about (like heating the body in the oven before preparing for spraying so that any air bubbles in the gel coat pop and can be repaired before the paint is applied) They did say they were very impressed with the quality of the Ultima GRP. Even though I had mine sprayed the same colour as the original yellow gel coat, to hopefully make chips less obvious, I forgot about the grey primer/undercoat used and this is quite visible when the paint is chipped and requires touching up. This cost £2350 back in 1999, but did also include spraying all the undersides and inside the sidepods with stonechip black and the cockpit interior satin black.
I currently have a red GTR and am planning on building a second car - either another GTR or a Canam. I'm particularly interested in that being silver like in the photos on the Ultima website. Ted tells me that this silver was a custom paint job (not a Factory gel coat).
1) Does anyone have any photos of a silver GTR or Canam?
2) If I go down this path of having a metallic silver paint, what should I get as the underlying gel-coat colour from the factory to best match or work with the later paint job?

Hi Craig You are looking for some photo's of silver like Ultima's? I have about 10 on my PC ofcorse 5 or so from that silver one on the Ultima website, and a few others origenal silver cars(no repaint) all GTR's because I don't like can-am or cabrio's...so I do not collect those.
Tell me what you have or are looking for and I can drop those?
Don't know quistion 2 so maybe somebody else can answer that.
