John Lyon - High Performance Instruction
Discussion
I posted a few weeks ago asking if JL was any good.
Anyway I had a half-day intro session with him this week and it was top notch.
I found him to be a really great guy to spend some time with, although as others pointed out beforehand, you have to allow a little for his age/character.
I got the impression he doesn't suffer fools gladly, but who would when your sitting in the passenger seat of a high performance car on wet, muddy public B roads? But most importantly, I felt completely confident that he knows what he's talking about and can teach me a great deal. It was more about being safe when using speed than it was about pushing the cars performance envelope. But experienced JL drive my 993 round some windy lincolnshire B roads, whilst giving me a running commentary at the same time, I was well impressed. In fact I suddenly realised how pathetic my own driving is and was a bit nervous when he announced it was my turn to show him my driving ability.
Needless to say I was rubbish, but learnt a lot and have booked a further day.
Top bloke, and highly recomended.
The half-day intro was only £50 and well worth it if you are near his base at Stamford.

excellent.
I would recommend joining your local Rospa car group, practice there first, do the tests (if you havnt already) as this will save a lot of time/money getting your driving up to a 'higher' standard and then do the John Lyon or one of the other instructors from HPC as a 'higher level' then Rospa gold.

I'm only sat eight miles from Stamford right now. Are there any contact details or a website address for him?
