afternoon all.

are there any winter windsurfers out there? i did a taster course last year at bewl water in kent and really enjoyed it, didnt manage to get any more in last year but want to have another go now. are there any clubs around the kent coast that anyone could recommend? im in south london but dont mind a little drive. bewl wayer is still an option but a little expensive per day. i guess i would need a few lessons to start with. appreciate its not that warm at the moment, but when we did the taster course it was bloody freezing, and still huge amounts of fun. any recomendations gladly received.

cheers tt

I windsurf all year-round (but it has to ne windy enough to make it worthwhile. Seems there's not been much wind at weekends for a while though - so I've not been out for about 6 weeks now.
Make sure you have a good wetsuit that keeps you warm and fairly dry (you'll still be falling in a lot if you're only just learning )
I reckon the water is at its coldest in Feb/early March, so be prepared for a bit of 'ice-cream head' too.
I sail inland near Northampton - Pitsford

I windsurf all year round, usually in winter due to the more stormy, higher winds and choppy waters.

I sail in the sea down on the cornish coast.

Agree, a good warm/winter wetsuit is a good buy, often the sea water is wamer then the air in winter, so not as bad as it sounds.

Cheers

Guy.

or to get you up to speed a lot quicker, go somewhere where the water temperature makes it even more enjoyable - try club margarita, or if you can wait until the summer, club vassiliki in greece

I just don't bother going anymore, as it is too far to the sea, though I might leave my stuff up at my parent's house near allonby, as it is one of the windiest beaches in the UK - then again last time I went windsurfing was christmas eve 2004 - shocking really!
