Does anyone here run an S2 Exige as an everyday car? I would be interested in your comments

Should I be worried about putting 10k miles per year on such a car (depreciation etc)?

I don't think there is much(no more then others)deprecation in a S2 Exige(standard) and for the standard yamaha/toyota lump 10K a year is absolutely no problem what so ever.
As a everyday car I should order aircon! and a spare set of black wheels with normal sporty tires(goodyears/dunlops/GT's?)
Since its different as the S1, the S2 is more everyday car because ist basicly a 111R with a roof and some others visual and sporty things, it has also the same lugage space.
And you know you want on!!! and you can even get the roof of or have a softtop!

Cup 240 will be my daily runner, 111S was my daily runner for 3.5 years. Only warning is once you have an elise or Exige, you will never want to be without one!!!

To Quote Stuart "Only warning is once you have an elise or Exige, you will never want to be without one!!!"

You don't know how close to the truth you are. I used to have an S2 as an everyday car for 2 years and sold it due to the birth of my daughter. Managed to get an E46 M3. Performance is great but its a little boring. The misses now has a family car therefore i may be able to get the ok on another else, and was just wondering about the exige. maybe a 111r would suit me better??

Reliable engine, fine for daily use worry about depreciation after you’ve had the fun!

Go get one!

Swilding - I've kind of done that, one sensible car, one weekend car. Wish I'd bought an Exige now as I'm slowly turning my 111R into one.

hey bogie, how is your car doing? is it ready yet? a while ago you've had to do a lot of improvemends? on the car?
And do you ever think on a Exige with a SC Honda? its havier, but when you see a black Exige don't you think about that? or...mine's is faster, but still I want/like one?

As long as you don't mind posting yourself into the car or have to park in narrow car parking spaces everyday then "yeah why not?"

my cars gonna be another couple of weeks - its having a 'cosmetic refresh' after 70K miles ....best of both worlds for me looks wise - S2 Exige front clam/lowers/splitter etc, modded rear clam (like S2 Exige) with LED lights, paint the calipers, full respray and armourfend and mesh grilles to engine cover (all the grilles are mesh then inc sidepods) so it will be half Exige but with the rear engine cover part Elise (looks better with roof off IMO) ...and its black, with black OZs in winter and gold OZs in summer

...oo..almost forgot - stereo upgrade too to 3 way components, 6.5" rear, 4" + 1" + 8" sub and more amplification than I have now (550wrms to 650wrms)...had a small DIY project last weekend rebuilding my custom rear bulkhead/speaker enclosures

yeah bogie, I think your car's gona look awesome, even more then it already did
And you also have a hardtop if I remembered well...so indeed you can say "best of both worlds" you even have some rear vieuw in your mirror the 240 does not have, but I don't look back, I look forwards
I liked the 111R, it gives a good drive, at least for Dutch roads, and for me it could use more power, again for Dutch roads(overtaking and short sprints) but I got hooked by the Exige's "sporty boy" looking image and I'm noy sporty at all
but at least in that car I look like one haah..lol

a hardtop is one thing Ive never had .....I like the look with the hardtop on with the S2 short roof design it looks like a coupe, but even in winter I like to have the roof off if its not raining so have never bought a hardtop as Id never use it !

for the last year Ive had a 2nd car also so havnt used the Elise *that* much for commuting in the winter months as I used to before...thats why Ive only done 10K miles this last year and not 30K miles

Ow, hm...sorry, I thought with such a beautiful black eilse as yours 72 but then that pherhaps is that one for sale in the classifieds, but itdoes look awesome with a hardtop, but I understand that you wanted it as a softtop/cabrio/open car...
And with a second car you not realy need it, I'm not such cabrio man, but ofcorse I like to drive one in the summer sunny days when driving not that fast.
I remember then the 2 TVR's I've had, much grunt and a lovely sound with the hood down and the accellerator down
But for the rest, when speeding I don't like all that windnoise I want to hear exhaust or silence but not windnoise over the exhaust noise when driving fast that is.
Drive safe,

Ok for the hard of thinking (it must be the peat in the water) what is a Walshy day, where are they, how good? and how much? Dont want the new one going the way of my 111S, well not till I fancy a change.
Actually would like to go to the ring in the summer, any advice??
ps advice can be swapped for guided tours of the West Coast of Scotland and possibly some sailing fun if there are any semen, sorry sea men out there.

need to give some thought on creating an "Ecossering" for a return match,
lots of options and fortunately up here the cameras have not taken root.
