The Gallery - Suggestion....

Guys,

No hard feelings to those who have posted ....

Can I make a suggestion........ I rekon we ban all second hand commentary/opinions etc from the Gallery Section. Photos and descriptions (by owner) of car only. - there is a danger that the Gallery will end up with pages of "nice car" etc etc....

Let the pictures tell the story and the reader make their own decisions.

Stig - can you add "Gallery Rules" on the first page? And perhaps change the title to "The Gallery - photos ONLY"

You mentioned Photos and descriptions(by owner) of the car only-adressed to Stig, but the car Stig posted is sold? If I read correctly, so he's also no longer the owner and by that you would ban his lovely car too...

well the reader does, and thats what I did

I also posted the picture's for you in the first place and ofcorse eventualy for others to share...

I know what you are trying to tell, but keep in mind we are not all the same, so no hard feelings and non taken...

Fair points crafty - I'll juduciously remove the 'nice car posts etc. and update to add some guidelines (not rules - far too harsh).

As for posting, I would say that the builder as well as the owner (if different) is jusified in posting as it was their blood/sweat/tears and money that went into creating the car.

Additionally, as far as my old GTR goes - I think I'm exempt as the car is no longer owned by anyone - nor will ever be again.....

Any chance to be more concrete? If you don´t want to tell us what happened why did you start to talk about it at all? If you are not allowed to publish this information or if it is embarrassing, then please next time do not mention it at all...
Just my opinion of course.

Hi Steve, you where looking for a good free photo site, well I've got this one, and for me it works easy and simple and you don't see big commercials going with them.

Hi Phil, you better check the picture's you've added in the Gallery because I can't see them...so you did something wrong??
when you post picture's from a website to a forum, you have to leave those picture's on that website, when you take them away from the website thinking, ooooow they are on the forum..they are also gone on the forum...
But I think you've posted the wrong link?

I can see them ok, although I did have problems using webshots.com, in as much as, they were not always visible all of the time! That's why I now use imageshack.

Peter - in light the recent tragedy involving H1K, do you think that it might not be appropriate to do so?

To to stop the speculation and needless discussion about it, after I'd sold it, the car was involved in an accident (this was back in 2004!) and was written off. The (unavoidable) accident was at high speed, the car went through a fence, down a 50ft ditch before coming to rest. However, thanks to the integrity of the construction of the car, the driver walked out unscathed - albeit quite shaken.

I saw the car after it was recovered and was amazed at how well it had taken the impact. All the bits that were supposed to absorb the energy had done so (sidepod rails, rad box etc. but the cockpit cell was completely untouched. In fact, even the GRP had hardly broken despite the car having taken impacts on all sides (except the top!). Which in a way, makes Ian's loss even more tragic. The cars are strong, people are not.

As a memento, the factory kindly gave me the start button from my old GTR and it's now fitted to my Can-Am

I mailed you offline just now. Sorry for appearing insensitive, was not my intention rather my bad English. I understood from the previous replies that the car was NOT involved in an accident but out of some (secret) reason no longer used. If I had understood right I would have not written this reply.
Still, thank you for the explanation - great to hear that your GTR protected the driver so that he could walk away... Makes me feel better at least.
