I'm looking to try and upgrade the drive in my Mac Mini. They come with a 4200rpm 80gb Seagate drive but many of the benchmarking tests cite the drive as a speed bottleneck.

Anyone know if its possible to get a 7200rpm 2.5" drive (80gb+) with a normal ATA interface (i.e. not serial ATA as the Mini doesn't have serial ATA)? Found plenty serial ATA ones, but that's no good.

Also, the existing drive is ATA-5 - would a ATA-33/66/100 drive work or are they not compatible?

Cheers.

Cheers Robbie.

Do you know anything about the ATA compatibility question? I see the drives on the page you posted are ATA-6.

ATA6/ATPI-6: This supports Ultra DMA/100 (also called Ultra DMA 5) with a transfer rate of up to 100 MB/s.
