New Boxter advice
Discussion
Hi
Just joined the forum and am thinking about a New Boxter2.7. This is my first foray into Porsche and also would be my first softop.
Can anyone address my concerns about security and care of the canvas lid please?
Also any other buying advice would be appreciated, must have options etc. I can't stretch to the S allthough I know that would be good advice ;o)
My Alternative would be an SLK280 but having had a CLK for 4 years I fancy a change from Merc
Many thanks
Ralph

Would imagine soft-top protection same as with others.
As for must-have options just buy the car you like with the gadgets you want and in the colour you like. Its your car after all.
Get a good inspection.
Don't listen to scaremongers whittering on about engines blowing up, RMS issues (don't ask ...).
Enjoy the car.

Most of the nearly new S seem to be quite heavily loaded and so still out of reach. Also the full warranty on a new one is quite attractive plus I spec what I want and ..well its new.
I guess as far as the roof goes, since I wont be garaging it (it will be on a drive), I was just wondering how they hold up, colour fade, leaks etc, thats just a lack of experience of a canvas roof talking.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the roof, it'll be fine.
As for options, well...... what do you want/need ? The adaptive sports seat are good. We have sports chrono but more of a toy so wouldn't be too bothered about it. You can upgrade the stereo system, although if on a budget you could have this done at a later date, so again up to you.
19" wheels are a must to me. Really set the car off.
Sat-nav ? Big money, when an aftermarket piece of kit will do the same at a fraction of the cost.
Wind deflector is a good one to go for, and quite cheap.
Just don't get carried away, as its easy to do.

Thanks All for your advice.
It seems that my concerns over the roof are prety unfounded, I did test a standard Boxter and needless to say it was miles up on my CLK for fun plus it had the driving edge on the wife's TT
I think options wise I will get the Metallic Paint and leather heated seats as well as wind deflector and sports steering wheel, plus cruise and maybe Park Assist (wouldnt want to bump it while I was getting used to the rear view !)
Thanks again for your help
