Today I sold my 996 C4S back to the OPC I bought it from
I have had it for 8 months and 6,000 miles - each and everyone of them an experience and a pleasure. I will miss the simply awesome exhaust note and the "pull" in 3rd gear

The reason for selling - looks like the company I work for is in the and I may be out of a job real soon  I had what I thought was a reasonable offer - so it has gone.

I am gutted to say the least - my goal since I was a kid was to have a 911. At least I have had one and will have another Porsche one day

Gutted for you, Carl. I'd be a wreck if I ever had to sell my ancient, tatty, but much loved 3.2 let alone a C4S like yours. I hope good fortune comes your way again soon and you can get yourself another 911. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear that Carl. I hope you can sort your work out in the medium term and get a bit of earning stability, allowing you to spend money on cars.

Having got the car I always aspired to as a kid, I'd be gutted to have to let it go.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the depreciation over the period?

Won't be offended if you don't answer!

Hey Carl, think of it this way, you've just had a taster of life with a 911; just to give you the oomph to go do it all over again!

Good luck

It's a terrible feeling. I feel sorry for you. I had a similar experience a few years ago when I sold my 996 back to the OPC after I had recieved a very unexpected tax bill. The tax error was my companies fault, which made it a bitter pill to swallow. Still I had to stump up the cash and the 996 had to go.

I always looked forward to the day when I could buy my next 911. I was determined to buy one that didn't cost much in depreciation. So I now have a nice 964, and am looking for a 993.

I hope you have the pleasure of owning another one in the coming years.

Good Luck.

I feel for you mate - I lost my business recently but managed to keep the car by pandering to the wife and generally working a few 'flankers'.

You'll get back into another one at some point in the future, and it'll be a lot sweeter when you eventually do.

Best of luck.

Chris

CarlT, sorry to hear the bad news.

But at least you now know what your now working towards.

Maybe this explains why some of those people who have everything seem to be so disattisfied ?

Looking forwards ...
