Taking the family to florida early next year and was thinking of looking around at booking a fly/drive ( got the villa shorted) online.

Could anyone give me a link or two to good websites/companys?

I booked a late holiday to Tenerife - I'm going next month - and I found expedia.co.uk to be the cheapest, easiest to use and offer a wide selection.

Generally speaking, you can only book flights no more than 11 months in advance. You'll have the same issue wherever you shop.

Sort of depends what you want as a hire vehicle and also which airport in Florida you are flying to. Assuming you are flying to Orlando the choice of vehicle will be huge and the prices will be similar for all of the rental companies. Check that they have on airport collection you really don't want to have to get a bus to off airport to collect a car.
Most of the big companies like Dollar, Alamo, Enterprise, Avis, Hertz have cars for collection in the multi-storey opposite the terminal at Orlando.
Car gire in the US is usually cheap for example I hired a Chrysler Sebring convertible in Boston last year for about £400 for 18 days.

Try www.trailfinders.com, they do good hire deals with insurance all-in. Great customer service too

Where abouts in Florida are you staying? My uncle has a villa on Southern Dunes and they fly into Sanford rather than Orlando and use www.a1travel.com or sometimes use www.thomsonfly.com/en/index.html?ito=1553

I've tried using interweb offers many many times and have ALWAYS found that my travelagents (here in Germany) get a better deal (by at least 10%), as the large travel companies buy huge blocks of carhire and can thus offer them cheaper.
For US and Canada I usually go with Alamo (theyre usually more flexible about the car size) but prepaid here through my travelagent. Another PLUS, all the wiggles and wobbles that the agents throw at you when hiring direct (extra insurance for cats health, drivers sunburn, and other ilk) are INCLUDED in the prepaid vouchers!
Also it's then much faster at the check-in and out as everything is prebooked and prepaid..... so no standing in queues with smelly obese tired chav-families with distraught brats screaming....!!!
