I am currently bidding for a 1993, Chim on Ebay, description...L7 DHF was first registered on 26th August 1993 and is a superb Chimaera roadster in the best colour scheme – GTS blue with magnolia hide and contrasting blue carpets & leather dash. Even the private plate is staying with the car! Please note the red plates in the photographs are just our company trade plates! This is a rather special car that we obtained from our local BMW franchise who had taken the car in part-exchange. We have used the car personally for the last few months and have been delighted with it – the noise and drive of it really are quite something. It is here on a no reserve auction to the highest bidder, as a guide it was last sold by Landspeed of Ipswich only 6 months ago back on 14th June 2005 for £10,500, with 60,104 miles. It has now covered just 1,000 miles more than that!! These are powered by the fabled Buick designed Rover V8 producing 240bhp, making for a very quick roadster, these are rated as one of the best and most useable TVRs as they are nowhere near as fragile as some of the newer offerings such as the Tuscan and Cerbera. As with all our cars, it will be supplied fully valeted and has been HPI checked. The car is ready to go, being Taxed to 31st May 2006, and is MOTd to December 6th 2006. This is a £100 start NO RESERVE auction and will sell to the highest bidder! We will not take it off and it will go to the highest bidder whatever the final bid price, whether we make a profit or a loss! What do you think it is worth, current bid £7150.00. Bidding ends at 10pm. Thanks in advance.

I'll assume you're buying, and quoting the ad.

Not a lot more than £8k, if it's exactly as described & good underneath.

Risky move though. I'd rather touch the plastic first!

But, without being a party pooper, what it doesn't say can be as important as what it does!!

Very good luck though.

Thanks very much for that, pretty much as stated on the ad. Do I take a risk on it? Any other members on here who knows more about TVR,s than me, (Which is probably everybody!) live near Bury St Edmunds? Who could take a look, when I go to collect?

I wouldn't recommend buying without seeing and even when you see them you have to be careful. However, at the right price, the worst you could do would be buy and sell it on again if you're not happy with it!

Believe me I am not winding anyone up. I am bidding on a TVR which is in Bury St Edmunds, Sussex, and I live in Preston, Lancashire. I have read many posts on this Forum, and already own a 97 Chim 400. I do not want to part with many thousands of pounds without knowing I am/have a chance of.. doing the right thing. Hence bidding ends at 10pm, now is 933pm, and pretty much as I said, Help urgently needed. So NO, this is most definitely not a wind up.

Just realised why you thought BSE near Preston lol.. Ok I will rephrase. Does anyone live in/near Bury St Edmunds, in Suffolk (lol), that could possibly meet up with me in the area, (Not travel with me from Preston) who knows more about TVR,s than me, (Which is probably everyone). Of course will buy drink/food/petrol, if required. Thanks in advance. Sorry about confusion!

Ok, bought the Chim for £7326.00, Spoken to the fella selling, and all is genuine and well. Has no problems me taking someone with me to inspect the vehicle, and will fetch it on Monday. Sorry it was short notice for many people on here to help, but through looking through the posts on this superb forum, I know I am in safe hands. Thanks again for the advice recieved in 55 mins!

Sounds like an ok price for it if it is all kosher, do try to take someone with you who knows about them, even if you have to pay a local indie £150 to come out and inspect it, it could be the best money you ever spent.
Also be prepared to get it in for service and spend some dosh getting anything that needs doing sorted from the outset.

Enjoy.
