The trouble with teleportation!
Discussion
Is if Feasable? I think it is! but there is one Major draw back! MONEY! If/when it becomes a reality it would throw the global buissness world into a mad panic because the powers that control oil manufacor would potentially lose BILLIONS, if if not TRILLIONS of ££££'s because there would no longer need Aircraft, cars, lorries, trains, roads, even the retail industry would not even need shops...You could teleport your item into your living room! There would be no more shops. What would we do with all the excess roads? Turn the A12, M25, all motorways into country parks? This would never happen because it would destroy an industry worth TRILLION and TRILLIONS of pounds.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!!
i am not going to say that teleportation will never be possible (simply because there is so much science that we dont understand yet), but i seriously doubt that oil companies will have major say when teleportation becomes commercially viable.
i know that no-one really knows when our oil will run out, but it is probably going to be sometime within my childrens lifetime (currently not born and hopefully not going to be born for atleast 10 years!!! ). in that time i very much doubt teleportation will have been developed enough for it to be ready to install a teleportation machine into every customer's home in the world.
i beleive i may see the underlying science being discovered and explained in my lifetime but i dont think i will see much more than that.
although it is an interesting concept

Yeah, but think how geat it will be for us...
Not only will all the roads be empty, but nobody will want a house with a garage anymore, so we could take our pick.
Ofcourse, there will be no car industry either, so it'll be a bit like a cross-between Mad Max and The Fly, set in a high tech future with cobbled together cars... interesting.

teleportation would make road safety interesting.
the roads would actually be drivable for drivers for once. every other moving around would done by teleportation leaving the roads empty for cars and lorries carrying teleporters.
however, if the teleporter was in the car - just before an accident you could be beamed out of the car just in time....

some thing that has all was bothered me about the idear if it was posible
would the person being teliported realy be the same person that comes out the other side.
concider this the idear being it rips you apart atom by atom and reasembles you at the other side. so far so good
but what if it disasemles you
and you now nolonger exist and the thing coming out the other side is infact a exact copy of with you memories and remembers entering the thing but is infact another being that has been created at that second and not realy you but does not know this as it has all you memorys and thinks it is you but may not be youin fact.
you may be killed at the secong you teliported
how could we ever know whitch of the two are the truth. ??

The problems with teleportation are real and insurmountable for the near future. Basically you have to build a machine that:
1. Reduces all matter of an object (through dissassembly of some sort) into energy.
2. You must transmit that energy to a receiving location, whereupon
3. The energy is then reconstituted into matter and
4. The matter is reconstituted into the original object
Now...
Several issues not withstanding the paramount one typified by Heisenberg uncertainty principle:
1. Is it the same object? If it was a person, would it be the same person? The act of reducing the object/person to energy has actually destroyed that person/object. One would assume that a template or pattern would be transmitted with the energy to restore the matter, but the original was, nonetheless, destroyed.
2. Ifyou are transmitting the template or pattern, wouldn't that change the amount of energy transmitted and impact the reconstitution?
3. Considering that a person was reconstituted from matter that was, up until a second ago, energy. We will assume that the pattern worked and the individual has all of the right molecules put back in the proper places. How woul they walk out of the device? How would they ask for help? How would they stand? How would they know where they are, who they are or what they are? I don't know how you would impart learned behaviour through a tranmitted pattern
Teleportation may be a good solution for transporting THINGS, but not people. At least, not in the short term. BUT why use TELEPORTATION at ALL? At the pont that you can reconstitute energy to fit a matter template, why not just create what you need out of energy without the necessity for destroying an identical object in the first place...
Just some random quantum thoughts

cold be handy for transportation of bank notes epecily if you get too keep the original as well
just think of the posibilities for a atom for atom perfect conterfit bank note or a few million

My father Professor Annataya Wumbutu whom you will have heard of, was the chief scientist of Umbongo Land. Before he died $15,000,0000 (fifteen million dollars) had been deposited in a Swiss bank account in order to fund such research. It is now a problem that due to government restrictions I need a bank account number and sort code in Europe in order to transfer in the money, for this service I would remit 15% ( fifteen percent ) of the $15,000,000 ( fifteen million dollars ) God willing..

I agree with that. Same with the Iain M Banks / Greg Bear etc. type idea of uploading your consciousness into a computer in order to dodge bodily death. You don't dodge death, but the entity that does survive death thinks it has, and thinks it's you.
That sounds spookily like Tony Blair!
