Security and Alarms on a 1999 996 C4

Hi, I've recently purchased the above and because I work in a dodgy area I'm keen to add as much security as I sensibly can to it to try and stop it disappearing. Can anyone tell me please what type of alarm system a 996 has already and whether or not I need to buy some extra security and/or a new Cat 1? complete alarm system?

Hi

I know that this is not an alarm system but I have just fitted a snap off steering wheel to my car. The wheel requires a key to be fitted and I think provides one more element of security.

The wheel is a Momo Tuner and is similar to the RS steering wheels on 964s etc etc.

Snap off kit was about £90 - Demon Tweeks sell them and are always very good to deal with I've found.

Just a thought anyway.

Interesting approach! That would certainly fox any buggers trying to take it away.

You could always add a tracker so that if it was swiped, you could get it back. Although the general consensus on here is that people wouldn't want their car back if it were taken...

That's not going to work on a car with an airbag.

I would have thought 99% of 996's have Thatcham Cat 1 approved alarms so not much to add there. Don't leave ANYTHING visible inside the car and watch where you leave it. Don't park like an ae; it only invites getting keyed. Best way to keep it getting nicked is to drive it!
