Know this has been done to death, but my insurance renewal from Liv Victoria came through last week with a premium hike of £1k !! They obviously don't want to insure Porshce's.

A call to Norwich Union saved me nearly £700 over the L&V premium quoted.
Tried Privilage, but they require a Tracker, so no joy.

Can anyone suggest a good insuance company? Its a 996TT, garaged, I am 34, full NCD etc etc.

Thanks

R.

I posted a request for insurance deals a few weeks ago, and of the companies suggested I got the best deal from these people:

www.asset-trust.co.uk/classic.htm

They gave me a quote very quickly and have been very easy to deal with when tieing up the formalities. It was a shock to have someone answer the phone when I called them, instead of the usual automatic phone queueing garbage.

Not sure if they are classic only, although my 993 is only 9 years old so most of the classic car insurers refused it on the basis of being 'too young'.

Take a look at this thread - Royal & Sun Alliance through Peart beat Norwich Union by a long way for me. So the advice is try Peart.

I used A-plan for my GT3 - less than £700

I think on that kind of car, a tracker is a must. It will open you up to more insurers at least. What kind of mileage are you getting quotes for?

I do around 12k a year, so when getting quotes I am saying up to 15k a year, to be safe.

had a ring round about 20 a few weeks back. peart thrashed everyone for a modded gt2, age 30, 3yrs ncb, terrible postcode. for unmodified have you try elephant, again cheapest for me by far for an unmodded gt2.

I tried confused, it came back with the cheapest being what my renewal pretty much came through at - ie far too high !
It also only seemed to check insurance companies that I had never heard of - there were no "big names" in the searches it returned, so figured have to do it the old fashioned way & start ringing around.

Peart undoubtedly :www.peart.co.uk/

Totally on top of their game, thoroughly professional and know what they're talking about.

A note of caution with mainstream insurers - many will regard factory fit options as modifications and load your premium accordingly. In the event of a total loss claim they'll give you a base model settlement - or void your insurance for not declaring your "modifications"- ie factory options

I agree with alxce. Just renewed my insurance with Royal and Sun Alliance via Peart Associates,Tel.0870 240 2972 ( speak to Richard ,VERY helpful)for my 2000 GT3. Wife and I to drive ,no claims or points in the past 5 years,9000 miles per annum, , protected NCB,£600 excess, first £60 for windscreen breakage, £523-53. I tried everywhere to beat that but couldn't.
Hope that helps.

Just tried Peart.
They won't quote for a car over £50k unless it has a tracker.
Also, when I tried to add my wife, they couldn't do it. Said that because she hasn't been on the policy before (which she hasn't, I am only adding her to lower the premium !) & because she drives a Vauxhall Zafira (they asked) mainly she couldn't be added because she "has no experience of fast cars" lol. Should have said she drives it all the time !

So they quoted for max value £50k & no additional driver (through RSA) & are the cheapest, not by a long way though. Norwich Union were £80 more expensive with wife on policy insuring up to £60k car.

I have a 996TT (02) 26k miles on it, so with second hand values up & down all the time its difficult to know what to value it at for insurance purposes. £50k might be enough??

I've gone from Privilege to Admiral and then back again. Admiral were great last year on my CSL, but privilege better this year on an 03 Cab.....
Try Admiral - they don't require tracker......

Try Virgin, they also offer 0% on the payments for the year, they were also the cheapest for me out of many, on a 996tt

ummm how can I say this - go with NORWICH UNION DIRECT.

They gave a competitive premium for me and paid out 70 big ones when I hit a tree. No hassle and protected no claims ment my renewal premium was the same when I renewed.

I found Porsche Insurance Services very competative, they are backed by Norwich Union I believe. They actually worked out cheaper than going through Norwich Union Direct direct. And you get european cover and couple of trackdays thrown in.

Editted to add, I was with Liverpool Victoria and Porsche insurance's quote for a GT3 with tracker subscription on top was cheaper than LV on a 996 Carrera 4 with no tracker
