An alternative to Squirrel Mail web mail client
Discussion
Yeah I had thought about that but I need something that I can install so when anyone who is a user enters the domain, the webmail appears as it does at the moment. mail2web would involve going to a 3rd party, and could make things more complicated for the users.
Thanks for the suggestion though!

Isn't squirrelmail an IMAP based front end to another back end mailserver? What are you running on the back end?
Unless you look to replace the backend server, I'd wager that whatever you use is going to be IMAP based and won't be as efficient as a properly integrated Webmail solution. Anything that works in this way will be a compromise - no web based address books, no web based calendar, no web based tasks/notes etc.

Just out of interest - what was it that was irritating about it for you? I'm having to set up squirrelmail for a client in the week so it would be good to prevent them the same issue if possible ;-) I've not seen or used squirrelmail before so I don't know anything about its positives or negatives...

Well it automatically blocks all images that are embedded in an email, and displays some security image in place. You must then click a button to display the image every time. It started to really irritate me during the week, as there is no way to turn it off... unless someone installs a plug in to fix it at the server side.

All that was needed was a slight amendment and the problem has been solved. No need to change now!
