Don't normally do the Euro one, but for £85 million, had to give that a go. That would buy me a few new toys and keep my 'currently between jobs' position going a bit longer.

I guess the chances of me winning are rather remote and no doubt some pond life will win it and blow it all on bling.

Fingers crossed...

Strange. But is seems people don't bother unless it hits vast sums of money. Is £5 million just not enough nowadays to get on?

but not zero - someone has to win it sooner or later... and I think this time it should be me!

No it's not. It's 76mill/1. Thus, I have more chance than you of winning 85000000quid!

But you can buy a nice house for £1m. Say £80k for a dream motor and there's plenty left.

I'd love to watch the scientist in charge of the experiment. "Oh my God, he's about to finish it!....'The Enf'? Bloody hell, right, start again!"

but the lifestyle you'd want and the expense that it would incur would melt the rest in short order...or at least it would with me anyway

£5m would be enough to get me started I think

I saw the results of the normal lottery last week and 6 people won the jackpot and only got around £750,000. I would be disgusted if that was my jackpot win.

What is the statistic quoted for getting the jackpot? Somthing like:

"You're more likely to be run over by the same bus twice on consecutive Tuesdays than win the National Lottery."

Anyway, I can but dream and the dream is only possible if I buy a ticket. £85M may be a bit much in reality though, the woman that won £77M recently has been hounded everywhere she goes and has had to move several times as all the con artists and beggars are now targetting her and making her life very difficult.

Perhaps some smaller, more discrete amount would be better, especially as I know if it became public knowledge I'd won that sort of money some members of mine and my wife's family would suddenly be quite keen on making contact and we really, really don't want to hear from any of them again.

It is a trade-off I think I could make though, hence my ticket's already bought...

Buy 5 tickets (5 x £1.50) = £7.50

76,000,000 / 5 = 15,200,000 which is still less than winning the UK Lottery but hey, you've got to be in it to win it

1 in 76 million is still a chance.

you have to be in it to win it!

if you give something enough chances of happening, however remote it will eventually happen.

There was a great run of articles in the Grauniad few years ago on notes and queries where someone asked.

"if you gave a monkey a typewriter and enough time will it type the entire works of william shakespeare?"

to which there was mass debate and eventually, the earth cooled and we all died or something

They actually tried that Monkey typewriter thing, all that happened was they monkeys soiled the typewriters, or computers, whatever they were.
