Just had a fairly decent quote from A Flux for renewal, but on trying Aon Lotus Esteem for a quote, they were double the A Flux quote and said it was because it was parked on the road!

Has anyone had a competitive quote for a car that is parked on the road and if so, who from? (its a private road, but I don't think that makes any difference to the insurers)

cheers

I'm parked on the road - didn't seem to be much of a hassle for me. I'm with Flux, but then I think it depends on you're area and pikeyometer reading

its not pikey, the daft thing is that aon's call centre is the same area code as me, so they should know the area! Think I'll go with Flux - £700 fully comp with european cover - I'm 29 with 3 years no claims, so doubt I'll get it much less anyway (s1 111s)

Have always parked mine on the road. Moved recently and although the road's much busier than the previous cul-de-sac the area's nicer so insurance was £250 less. A welcome relief.

Seen lots of issues with Flux on SELOC won't cover if the roofs left off, bad at returning calls and rip you off if you change policy mide year (incl mileage, mods, named drivers etc)

Be warned.......

Try Chris Knott insurance (www.ckinsurance.co.uk) they undercut Adrian Flux by over £70 when I renewed earlier this month.

I park mine on the road and I'm with Swiftcover.com, they were cheapest by far. You do it all on line so it's no hassle.

Frizzell. They're not that cheap and I was with them beause they used to offer track cover as standard but it has since been dropped, even for CSMA members. This year it was convenient to use them again but will shop around next time.

Edit: in their favour there's no requirement to have a tracker fitted.

I use Frizzell, AKA Liverpool Victoria. Cheapest for me, but then that was before I knew of the other companies people use. will be ringing round in the next couple of weeks.

Mine costs £670, for a joint driver/joint car policy. The other car is a Zafira. both of us are over 40, with clean licences. Going by what I was paying for the Zafira, the Elise is costing me about £430

Frizzell wouldn't touch anyone under 30 with an elise. My Dad is a CSMA member and I'd be ellible too.....

cheers, I took the car up to my dad's for the winter and they gave me some money back as it was lower risk, and they gave me a price for when I bring it back down again, and it is only £50 different, they also throw in europe-wide breakdown cover, which is an extra with most, so it looks like I am going to stick with them for another year

I think that's a pretty good quote.
As you 'only' have 3 years no claims and are under 30.
I got quote of just over £1k for a 2002 111S parked on road in WA14 postcode which I thought was good (considering my driving history ). Have to remember that practically all elises are group 20 these days from what I have read.

Mines on the road, insured as a second car with Bell Direct - they matched the first cars no claims and it came in at a touch over 600 (S1, 31Yrs, 6YrsNCB, Tracker)

so 100 quid more, but with 3 years less no claims and 2 years younger and no tracker looks like a bargain to me?

I'd say so - I only got the car in september and it was the best quote then.

Interestingly I turned 31 in august and had a quote before and after - the difference was about 80 quid. I think for 29 and 3NCD anything around the 700 mark is good.

Yep, they rock. Mines parked on the street in south west london... £700. Why thank you.
