touch noisier..........warranty
Discussion
hi 2 every 1, new tusky owner of 3 weeks first like to say iv been debating on my purchase for some time and nowing TVRs were some what trouble some and after a little research i jumped of the highest building into one.Always loved the look of TVRs and the Tuscan was to die for but wat i wasnt ready for was the power, breath taking, neak breaking, eyeball poping monstrous thrust.I bought a 4.0 black 53 with 10500 on the clock FTVR service black-port leather for 25k what i didnt think was to bad.i bought it from a Porsche dealer near Brighton whom had taken it as a part x.It was an hour and a half drive back and as my lady was following i bearly crossed 3k revs, but of course the closer i got the confidence grew and going past the toll at dartford i said right what have you got for me please an bloddy hell did she give it to me, neary ended going back through the toll the wrong way...hello toll man.By the time i got home i was feeling pretty intimidated, after owning quite a few fast cars like MR2 turbos an such i didnt think the speed would be much greater.....stupid boy.Taking my time with at the mo only boosting it when its safe and im seriously happy i bought it.Any way some advice please would be great, when the cars cold an first driven for the day the engine sounds very slighty noisier than when its warmed, is that how they are or should i get some warranty.Cheers
Hiya!
I had to copy and paste your post into my Word program, so I could read it better!
When cold, a lot of the S6's do sound like the proverbial 'bag of nails', if it's driving OK and there are no other noticable odd noises, I would guess that all's normal.
I have sometimes winced when even slightly accelerating when I first set off on my drive, due to the engine sounding rough, but after a mile or so, it all settles down and all's great!

Hi welcome and congrats on the car.
Mine sounds like a bag of spanners when started from cold so I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you stick to the warming up guidelines and it should be ok. I'd recommend checking the oil very regularly until you get a handle on it's normal useage as it can vary considerably car to car.

Just wait till you start it up from cold with the roof off.
LOL, I know that sound! it's like a cotton factory at full pelt!
Probably better off putting the wool in your ears.

The trouble is, a Tuscan is so damned sexy to look at, it tends to pull the wool over your eyes !
(And that's assuming you studied Pistonheads and went into the showroom with your eyes wide open !!).
Still, running any type of mistress was never a cheap option ......!!!

Maybe a naive question - i've got a Tuscan S on order - it doesn't arrive for another 5 weeks or so (so maybe the dealer will fill me in when I pick it up), but what are the "warming up guidelines"? Are these in the owners guide (seems unlikely!), or is it generally accepted wisdom...

The running in period is 2000 miles, for the first 250 do not exceed 2500 rpm (great for showing off) from 250 to 1000 miles not exceeding 4000 rpm the next 1000 miles is just avoiding erratic driving as your manaul will explain. The warming up gidelines are keeping the car under 3000 rpm untill the oil has reached 50~c .As im a new owner myself i think thats about right if theres any mistakes im sure another pistonhead will correct me.Good luck, great purchess.
