The insurance guy came round to look at the nash in the back of the elise and mentioned that the rears are looking a bit low. I've got goodyears all round at the moment (on the car when I bought them) and the fronts are fine. Fortunatly he's not going to bounce the claim but I do need them sorting.

I know this topic goes round the houses a lot, but when I try to search ph it just seems to take ages and then I get a timeout error

What should I do? Replace the rears with the same to keep them the same all round? Can I mix and match? Replace all??? (dont really want to do the last one!)

Thanks
J

I'm no expert on this, but I have read the recent posts on this topic (you should be able to scroll to it, as it was active only a few days ago).

The consensus (one I agree with wholeheartedly for any car) is that you shouldn't mix and match tyres under any circumstances. So, either buy rears the same as your fronts or change all four. The S2 has bespoke tyres, but someone more knowledgeable than I, like Shangani or GTRene, would be better to advise.

Here is the link to that tire quistion...

It is never realy good to mix tires, but on a normal car under normal use, some mixes are not that bad, but the Elise is compare to ordenairy cars, a leightweight car and its easy to get offset! it listens very sharp to what tire choice you make(also where you gona use it for and what you expect them to do for you)
Tires are the first contact to the road and the car/you so they are very importend when you want to drive it to the max, or just a fast drive.
Think where you gona use the car for, and then make a wise decision, just buy the right tire for you, and look around for a good price! you can save a lot!!!

I had P-Zeros on the front of mine and Bridgestone S03's on the rear and that was fine. Only bad thing was the the fronts always used to understeer when really pushed but that cause the tires were rubbish.. But once the rears had worn out again, I just bought a whole new set.
