Despite the press revealing the arrogance of the Blair household,yet again. They seem to have rather missed the opportunity to put the boot in. It seems the poor woman is a candidate for being put in a safe place, perhaps with no sharp things around. Not only did she seek the help of a convicted fraudster to get the price of her flats down, it appears she seeks the guidance of a medium on a regular basis.
Now ordinarily I would consider these issues to be on merit, trivial and just ignore them. But hang on, this woman is a QC and one of the few people in the public sector apparently competent to make judgements. As she is a barrister I find it hard to believe she was unaware of Peter Fosters convictions, ergo is she fit to be a barrister? In addition, seeking the help of a medium kind of indicates that her judgement ought not to be anymore influential that say a game of 'pass the parcel' at a kids party. If we are going to allow this kind of thing to carry on then perhaps we ought to enlist Uri Geller to the bench, as at least he has a track record as an ESP specialist. Alternatively perhaps Cherie could audition as an empath for Star Treck.

Well, you see it is actually an advantage. In a murder trial she will be able to have the victim contacted and ID the killer. Saves the expense of a trial. Just keeping costs down is all..

However, the Prime Minister's job is too important for it to be tarnished by the career or business dealings of an over-ambitious or incompetent spouse, whether they be male or female.
Spouses should be required to step out of their careers and business dealings when the other half is prime minister.
Denis Thatcher was a perfect example - in his words, always present, never there (and mostly topped up on G&T).

So Mrs Blair has a few dodgey friends and you lot don't? And you are surprised that the judiciary have one rule for others to those applying to themselves, hmmmmm no real shocks in this story all rather mundane.

If this was a Tory 'scandal,' the left would be quite unapologetic and unreserved in their denounciations of the protagonists.

This whining is a bit petty, frankly.
Cherie Blair is not a socialist, has not broken any laws, and does not advocate that others should be banned from doing what she has done.
Will those upset at Labour still being in power perhaps try a new record. Many of us don't share your opinions, and the constant bleating is getting to sound a bit pathetic.

First, you are correct: she is not a socialist. Very few people ever have been. She is a champagne socialist.
Second; too bad about the whining. I had to listen to the left groan on for years under the Ts as Britain was finally dragged out of it's post war economic slumber. In the advent of an admittedly feeble bunch of them in oppo at the mo, however, it's one of the few perks left of not being a leftie.

1, If Mrs Blair had done no wrong, broken no laws, committed no crime, why on earth did she lie so often?
2, Why, having lied and been found out, did she tell another pack of lies?
3, Why did the BBC refuse to carry the story until it was frankly too big for even them to ignore? - especially when you consider the prominence given this morning to that clanking old Tory has been Michael Hesseltines rants about IDS over the weekend. Hezza isn't even an MP anymore FFS, yet his comments enjoyed the #2 slot in the news after the Iraqi arms declaration!
Even when the Beeb did carry the story on Thurdsay, Andrew Marr could not have been more fawning or apologetic towards La Blair. "woman of character, spotless record as leaders partner, committed mother, etc etc" was all we heard.
4, Why did almost the entire print media, Daily Mail excepted, also refuse to look into the story until late in the week? Our so called free press wouldn't touch it cos Number 10 told them NOT to. Thats right, number 10 now decides what goes in the papers too, and the editors of such esteemed publications as The Times, Gaurdian etc should be fired this morning for dereliction of their duties!

Viewed as a single incident, it's a metereological event in a small china pot designed for the consumption of a leaf based infusion.
However, when taken as part of the wider round of how this country is being governed, and the arrogance of Government, and the complacency of the public/media to the abuse of power and the insidious rise of "correct thinking" and the vilification of anyone who disagrees (see how much the Daily Mail was attacked earlier in the week) it's deeply concerning.
