Well, what a glorious day... the weather was perfect, the roads empty (well, at least outside of London!), and I PICKED UP THE GT3!!!!! (KayC.... 
)
What can I say? I'm over the moon... burned half a tank of petrol this afternoon just getting used to her lightning turn-in, addictive growl from 3k and up (PSE fitted), and simply intoxicating feel. Stopped through the park on the way home with the little boy who was comfortably ensconced in the Recaros for a quick photo shoot... who says the GT3 can't be the family car?

Nice one Adrien. You picked the right day for it. Hope you enjoy it and by your first impressions you no doubt will.

Don't get me started about fat buTTs... if only I could!
I'm actually amazed at how much more refined the 996 is to drive at speed compared to the 993... even with the raucous racket behind me. Around town, the steering is much lighter and more delicate, the clutch less fussy, and the gear change perfectly weighted (although no doubt the 993-directness is lost through the cables somewhere)... Would I go back?... not yet!

are those standard exhaust pipes (look sweet BTW) or some sports or aftermarket jobbies?
They're the PSE ovals - I was really chuffed when they came with the car as a factory option as I prefer them to the normal 3.4 exhaust.

Thanks Allan. Was your earlier Mk1 the blue one at Gmund? BTW, thanks for your advice when I was in Canada re the "other" car... I checked it out when I got back and concur that it is definitely overpriced... I think it was a momentary RS-weakness!

It was my 2nd GT3 at Gmund it was Lapis Blue, believed to be the only RHD Mk1 ever built in Lapis [this was a 2001 on colour] as it was a very late car it had alcantara headlining, electric front & rear release mechanisms, slightly different interior lights etc. It was new to Steve O'Rourke.
My Iris one passed through Camtune to an Asian fellow sometime around Dec 2003 I believe
