just picked my car up after having some work done on it and noticed that my wipers wont turn off - currently on intermitent (which gets a bit annoying on a journey of longer than 9 seconds). all other steering wheel buttons ie. horn, lights and screen wash/wipe work fine, i just cant change the wiper setting or turn them off. does this sound like this is the ribbon connector behind the steering wheel playing silly buggers? all advice gratefully recieved, im getting really annoyed with these stupid buttons now.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the connector block that goes into the wiper motor or the one that goes into the wiper switching unit (passenger footwell). You never know it might 're-boot'.

Steve, why not try what PHC suggest above. Try disconnecting the wiper 'black box' and leaving it for a few minutes. Other than that - TADTS.

Are you saying the intermitant wipe is working ok, with delay? If it is then its not your park switch.

ok, problem solved. some numpty had screwed one of the hex bolts that hold the aluminium face plate onto the steering wheel straight through one of the wires leading to the windscreen wiper button. cant trust some people.
