TWG Porsche, P/Boro.

Well I've got the car all sorted at TWG in Peterborough. My 944S2 cab has now got a new clutch, (spring type) a new water pump, new belts and adjuster rollers. Most of the other idlers I did myself.

I've done the rear discs and a half shaft myself so the old thing is now ready for a trip?

The reason for this post is to assess the work from TWG which so far seems to be of a good standard with no problems apart from overheating on the way back to cambridge. The dreaded red light came on with the guage towards the top on the A1 (nice eh!)

Anyway after a stop for a cool down I took it steady all the way back to Cambridge. I let it cool down and topped it up with Antifreeze and hot water so as not to damage the head! So far after this Blip it seems fine. I did ring TWG and tell them what had happened, and they said if any problems come up to give them a ring.
Apparently, the S2 is a bit of a git to get the air out of, if its not had a good run and several bleeds from the bolt on the top of the engine.

I've done this several times now and hopefully the air is now all out. (anyone else have this problem with the S2 engine)

Overall I'm happy with what they have done and all the work was done for just a bit more than OPC wanted just to do the clutch!!
OPC quoted £460 for the clutch parts, and £640 to fit!!!!!!! they live on another planet don't they?

TWG will work on any Porsche and it would seem for a reasonable price. They seem a nice bunch.

Good to hear it all went well (assuming the red light stays off).

It's always good to know there are decent organisations to take the P & J to if it starts going pear shaped.

Have you got any experience of Barr Tech in Cambridge?

So wheres the trip going to be - Le Mans?

I was a bit miffed with Bartech as they wanted to charge me £50 just to look at the car (and their diary was empty) and I don't like that way of working.
i'm happy to pay, but TGW sid bring the car over and we will give it a quick look over, and they did. They showed me all the problems and I like the way they operated.
Did you spot the local Porsche (Tipec) meet in Conington just down the A14 Towards Elsworth. www.darkhouse.net/tipeccl/monthly_meeting.html

As you will see they meet the first Sunday in the month at the White Swan at lunch time. I may well be there for the Feb meet!!!!!

Odd one from Barr Tech. Fairly crap attitude. They have been very helpful with me so far. They replaced my master and slave clutch cylinders and are quoting on somebody work I need doing. I might have a chat with TWG to see how things compare.

I won't be able to make the Feb meet but will try and get some time in the near future - tuesday evenings in the summer are probably a better bet.
