Having enjoyed the privileged ownership of the Sagaris since April, wow what a lovely piece of engineering and overall balance, it really is such a neat piece of kit and has truly delivered a whole new dimension of driving pleasure.

However today I made an approx 2.5hour trip from Preston to Sheffield, via snakes pass (nice moorland-style cambered roads for those not familiar), my girl friend at the helm of the Beast, making good progress and is never a lady to be underestimated, additionally who notified me the other day that we were consolidating the fleet, and on the basis that we don’t need two shopping cars, she was very prepared to say good-bye to her beloved Z3 (now on a forecourt) and now informs me that the roads appear to be a lots emptier at the helm of a TVR and it would be rude not to use it as much as possible. So we were both driving together on a good variety of roads and I loved looking at the Sagaris as there’s nothing quite like looking at your own car at a distance, you see new lines, form and the obvious joy of how it devours the road and what people make of it as it passes. And as for what I was driving it suddenly hit me that I was driving a machine that was providing me with dare I say it, a better driving reward than the beast,…..what’s going on?

…….Answers on a postcard please send t……..it, was an Atom!!!! Has anyone else here driven one here? If not, you need too, spread the word!! Ok, I realise it’s a slightly different proposition, but if minor bore-holes in the forehead are not an issue to you, all I can say is wow, again the engineering, the drive, the handling, the accelerations, the it will only be a matter of time before the beast has a permanent stable mate, absolute pure driving, the beast may go up to 9 in drive reward (but subject to climate conditions and your liking for flies al fresco) the Atom I think maybe 11………. And probably both get 10 on creating the ‘smile facto, I cano remoovo’ that only certain vehicles have the ability to do.

ps is it just me, or is anyone else questioning the suggested Sagi top end, or is it just that I went for the standard gearbox?

No its not just you xtc. Its been done on here already. The standard gearbox has the same 4th and 5th gear ratios as the close ratio gearbox so should make no difference.

Final drive ratios vary across the cars with early cars having quite tall gearing that maybe result in a car that’s slightly over geared.

My own car has a CR box with 27 mph/1000 rpm final drive, which I think is probably the final drive set up the majority of Sagari built thus far.

I am currently looking into the cost (only looking..honest dearest ) of a change in crown wheel and pinion to reduce gearing to 24/1000. For me any impact this mod has on top speed won't matter but it should make the car a little quicker through the gears.

On the handling front, the Sagaris is set up quite safe and not as sharp as could/should be. Without spending much money at all, it can be greatly improved without detriment to every day driving.

320 miles between us at the moment, that's one of the reasons I thought I was safe to mention it.

A little birdy told me that the standard exhaust on the Sagaris is restrictive at the top end.
I will try and find out if there are any horse power figures to back this up.
was told there is definately more top end ooomph with a different system.
Seeing Dom at TVR Power soon for an upgrade, will ask him if he has done any testing.

Pete.
