Picking up the sub thread on the DIC errors made we wonder what one's expectations should be? My C5 is 4.5 years and 69K miles. During that time battery has gone dead flat twice, once due to dumb owner and once due to unknown reasons although dumb son suspected. It still seems fine to me. Daily driver. Just how long do these things last? I have read of C1s and C2s with original battery.

Had my C2 since 1997 still with same battery and I have no idea how long it was on before I got it. Always keep terminals cleen and smeared with Vaseline and always keep it on a battery conditioner when not in use.

My AC Delco lasted just 8000 miles before it died. The AC Delco on the Camaro leaked acid but that was bit older.

If in doubt swap it out. Just not worth the risk as the computer sits below the battery bay.

The Corvette Forum is littered with horror stories.

My original AC Delco died after about 3-3.5 years.

Went to local Vauxhaul dealer and bought a Freedom battery with side connections (one of the Vauxhaull SUV/MPV use them). Still going strong 2.5 years later. Only cost £55.

My OE battery gave up after 2 years but the Delco replacement under warranty is now coming up to 5 even though the green "magic eye" turned black within a year.

That Vauxhall battery sounds a useful tip. Can you post its full specification and the part number etc?

Of course no idea what miles you guys are doing but is it a case of a daily driver keeps the battery in good condition and longer lasting I wonder. Do we have an electrician in our midst?

As the poster of the earlier thread, I can confirm that my battery is still ok - I believe it is the original on a 99 manufactured, 2000 delivered C5 used as a daily driver (67000 miles to date).

My C5 has 23k miles and is a daily driver. The Camaro has 70k and is also a DD. If not used regularly the battery will drain. I suspect In Vegas its more outside air temperature related.
There are many stories of wierd electrical problems once it starts to die.
