Me bird has just left to babysit for a mate's boys. The youngest has chicken pox and as I've never had it I thought it would be prudent to stay away.
I was just wondering, how is it contracted from one person to another?

My little one is just getting over it now.

As far as I know:
Chicken Pox is highly contagious for a period of about four weeks - three before it comes out, and one after (until the spots scab over... nice.)

It is a passed by close contact, but is very virulent. It went like wildfire around the nursery and my little girl's friends.

Glad I didn't go, then. Is it airborne or do you contract it by, say, touching things that the infected person has touched?

I beleive that during the main infectious period it seems silmalar to a cold, after the cold period you can get neck and back pains and then the spots... I think once you get the spots you have to come into contact with the pus for transmission to occur ( sorry!)

Me and several of my friends got chickenpox a few years ago, none of us saw each other with spots.

I highly recomend you do everything possible not to get adult chickenpox it is extremely nasty. If you do get it, get to the doc's straight away and make them give you some proper pain killers, none of this over the counter stuff. I didn't sleep for three nights when I had it, I spent most of the four days I was awake sitting under the shower as it was the only thing that stopped the godforsaken itching.

My missus is round there now. She's had it before, is there any way she could bring it home with her? Eg: If the boy touched his pussy face, then touched the door knob and then she touched the same doorknob, then touched things at home, which in turn I touched?

Hope that makes sense.

Don't panick! I'm sure you'll be fine, you probably have to get some pretty direct contact I would think.

I'm sure a proper doctor will be along in a minute to explain properly.

In that case I would currently put your overall chances of survival at less than ten percent. Harsh, but I have to be honest in cases such as this - you will almost certainly be dead by teatime.

I wouldn't worry too much, if you are going to get it you will. Just check that she washes her hands thoroughly and didn't give him lots of long, lingering cuddles..

Am I right in thinking that chicken pox can make men infertile? I had it when I was 17 and my English Literature tutor mentioned this to me.

I've had Chickrn Pox twice. Once when I was 2 or 3 and then again when I was 32. A most horrible experience and I was banned from the office for about 10 days

Yes, if you get it as an adult. However, it is rare and if it does you know about it because it has a rather nasty effect on your bits!

Edit: not speaking from experience! My bits remained relatively normal throughout!

Too much information?
