As an alternative, you've had your cake so shall you lie upon it.
(my dad says that occaisionally)

Too many cooks flock together

A stich in time is better than one in the bush

Many hands gather no moss

Birds of a feather spoil the broth

A bird in the hand saves nine

A rolling stone makes lights work

Pick a peck of seashells by the seashore

Sue sells pickled peppers

Spare the rod before you leap

Look before you spoil the child

He who hesitates catches the worm

The early bird is lost

getting bored now

I once dated a girl known for charms other than her intellect.

She once rather modestly described herself as being

"as interesting as two short planks"

I had to agree

In the boating world, there is a saying:
"There's a fine line between a Fisherman & a Wer sat on a river bank"
A freind of mine who is more than a little tightly wound, once confronted an angler with a slightly mixed up version. He said "There's a fine line between a fisherman and a Wer and YOU'RE IT!" Fists started flying shortly after!

"as flat as a Dodo", (my wife refering to the battery on her car, a few years back)my laughter didn't help the situation.

I suppose that leaves us "as dead as a pancake"
